Forums - Microsoft - Do you think the 360 'deserved' to be selling much better?

It's great being a 360 owner, regardless. The issues they have faced, hopefully, will be a learning lesson for future development. Even with the issues, the 360 is selling surprisingly well and continues to see success, and will build upon it when it releases its next console.

No I really don't. The reason they're not selling as good in Japan and Europe is because of the RRoD which is their own fault for rushing the console out to get a head start. They deserve whatever they get because got because their own mistake. Just as Sony deserved the reduced development for their console because of them not helping developer to understand the Cell.

In Japan? yes. Only considering what their competition is doing there. In Europe? no, nothing has really shown me that they are being really aggressive in that specific market.

MS deserves to make more money and has thought more about the target demographics that they had their eye on. Their first Xbox was a piece of crap. The core idea behind the 360 is what is deserving, the fact that they pushed it and the quality was questionable is minor. They payed out over a billion to try and fix the problem. Sony came out with a solid entertainment system and ended up losing billions. You do the math.

Well, I believe that the xbox360 should be selling better, given the effort, massive library, and the overall goodness. BUT, I think because of RRoD, we would see the sales it deserves until the end of this generation. Not necessarally because people are afraid of it, but because of some of it's pissed customers coming back, and giving their original system of choice another chance.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

The RROD is still MS's biggest problems. Some Falcons are still failing here and there, and despite the 3 year RROD warranty some launch consoles about to past three years, and then what? People who bought the launch consoles will have to either buy a new console or pay $100 for a repair over and over or be forced to buy a new system at $200.

With that said, MS has done a good effort to get attention in Japan with the RPGS and eventually they will fight harder in Europe. MS's only issue is hardware right now imho.

It's just that simple.

Umm... Sony spent a few billion developing the PS3.  So... you're comparing that to the 1 billion extra that MS paid out for a RRoD replacement program, and saying that... what?  Developing the XBox360 was included in that 1 billion MS paid out for replacement units?  Lol.  I think before you "do the math" you need to be using the right numbers.

...I fixed your post for ya.

Well even with that 1 billion charge, how much has Microsoft lost on the 360 since launch? They lost 3.5+ billion on the original XBox I know that much.

It's just that simple.

i'm not sure deserved is the correct word, but yes microsoft deserve every success they've had with the 360 , they put the work in and got the result no dought about that.

They've also made the market more competetive , we'd definetley not have a £300 PS3 had it not been for the 360. The Wii might even cost more too.

What he said.

Still don't like MS though....

The payout by MS was not extra, its put into another book of expenses (IE: Fixing the RROD problem and increasing the 3 year warranty). If you want to talk about extra or additionals, it would be for the newer models with the falcon chip in it. Sony spent what they had to spend and I am not arguing with it, but they've had to cut the production costs by half because the market was not responding to their system the way they should. In price cut and MGS coming out increased sales by 180%. Microsoft made mistakes and they fixed the majority of them. If you stay on the past too much you'll give yourself a heart attack. In 2006 there was a 30% RROD rate, in 2007 it dropped down to 16%, now its far less than ever. Based on the Idea and goals MS was focused on they DESERVE to sell more than Sony, because obviously they were thinking about the gaming more. Sony said it themselves at E3 that they were now focused on the gaming. This is because of the stabilization of Blu Ray, which was Sony's initial goal.
