Forums - Sony - Sony's Choice: EyePet funded over Eight Days

I agree with azrm2k

If Sony really decided to abandon their work on Getaway 3 and Eight Days, because they want to compete with one of the many causual Wii titles, then Nintendo is destroying the industry.

It's a shame. Those games had a great potential to be superb exclusives for the PS3 and now they get this...
I have not so much problems with LPB. It's at least a real game.

@Libellule: Oh, but it's soon going to be. Just like LBP (yes it is casual) or Home.
But Sony is cancelling a "hardcore" title for a casual one, that was the point, not whether you cared it or not.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

t's harder to single out Nintendo for overlooking its "core audience"

With the difference that Sony will bring out Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Killzone 2 (wow lots of 2s) soon, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, Uncharted 2 later. While the most "core" games Nintendo has announced is Animal Crossing. Which is as casual and not core as it gets.

I am not sure if Sony will be successful by trying to recapture some of the casual audience but as long as I get a new Team Ico game, God of War3 and GT5 they can make all the virtual pets and party games they want.

@RolStoppable,

Except, Ninty abandoning hardcore was fully confirmed.
While Sony has 1 casual game for 10 fully supported hardcore games.

Just open your TV : Wiifit ads versus SC4 ads ... all is said.

That's your proof, TV commercials? You know, SSBB and Mario Kart Wii also got plenty of commercials.

Try again.

==> My proofs are in the AMAZING Wii sales and the Wii softwares titles.

(you know all the titles made by Ubisoft to allow the developpement of AssassinCreed on PS360 ?)

Also, "plenty of commercials."  LOL

( Mario kart ads + SSBB ads )  X 10 = Wiisport ads + Wiifit ads.

We both know what is selling the console ...

Also Mariokart and SSBB are both hardcore/casual title.

what about about Zelda/SMG/MetroidPrime sales ..... all is said again.

==> Home is online = Home is not casual

LBP need time to create a level = LBP is not casual

And about the cancellation, YES, it is SAD. I would prefer a hardcore games over a casual title (guess why I dont care about most wii software ...).
I was just adding that,
as for Ninty, casual = BIG AMOUNT OF SALES.

So Sony going to catch some casual sales make a LOT of sense.

In summary : it is sad for me but it makes sense for sony (as it makes sense for ninty)

@Libellule: They're million sellers. The topic was about Sony abandoning the "hardcore", which has nothing to do with Nintendos million-selling core games.

So, back to topic.

@Libellule: LBP=No need to create level, LBP=Casual.

Home=Do not fill the requirements of hardcore game, Home=Casual.

Eight Days=Abandoned for, EyePet=Casual.

TOPIC :

Sony is cancelling 2 hardcore games for 1 casual games ... OK.

BUT since their full line-up is about hardcore games, you can't really say they are "abandoning the "harcore"".

So, back to topic, plz.

@Libellule: LBP=No need to create level ALL about creating a level and sharing it online = hardcore , LBP=Casual.

Home=Do not fill the requirements of hardcore game, Home=Casual. Online community, online play, online purchase, online customization =  hardcore (as if Second life was casual lol)

Eight Days=Abandoned for, EyePet=Casual.

 Fixed.

Sony can't be blamed for this. If it wasn't for Nintendo's overwhelming success with grandmas and toddlers, PS3 would be getting awesome titles like Murder Simulator 5 and Final Fantasy VII-2: Aries Rearmed.

I blame Wii Fit! (seriously though, I blame it)
