FINALLY!

Ok, some of you may recall that I've been going through the, now 12, vc titles I have and been actually beating them for the first time since I was a kid and actually owned them on their original systems. Well, I've been preoccupied lately with a few really long games of Civilization 4 and had taken way too long to finish SMW. Last night I put Bowser down, again.

SMW was such a great game. I remember the original excitement I had starting the first level and getting Yoshi and eating everything. There are definitely some really tough parts on that game and I did not unlock all of the paths or the star road etc. (Yeah I know, I'm a wussy) However, I did get all of the colored blockes unlocked and used no cheats or walkthroughs.

I also noticed something interesting about the game. Either I just missed it or Nintendo messed up. At the end of the game it shows a picture and name of every enemy in the game, save one. SMB2 was an entirely different game and brought a ton of new enemies into the Mario universe. Some never to be seen again and some made continuous appearances throughout the later games. There is one that is a black star that jumps straight up. From what I can tell it only exists in the very last part of Bowser's castle immediately before you enter his chamber, yet, it is not pictured or named in the credits. I just found that interesting.

Either way, the game is fantastic, great music, great platforming, some really difficult parts that will make you lose plenty of lives, and of course a much needed kiss from the princess at the end.

oh and btw, if you actually completely die in this game and have to "continue", you're an idiot. :)

I forgot to mention, now I'm onto Zelda II: The adventure of link.

This thread makes my nostalgia for the SNES/Genesis generation rear its ugly head again....my golden time with videogames was right there, playing all the gems on those 2 systems.

Gee, thanks superchunk, for making me sad :(

*goes to cry in the corner for a time that will never come back*

I once finished this going the way from where I started to the forest of illusion to Bowser's castle... after that, I've been taking the star Road to go to Bowser's Castle the shorter way when I started this game again

I love when you beat secret world

NINJI yeah that's his name and I'm sure he wasn't given credit. I wonder why.

The secret world has some incredibly tough stages! The one with the P balloons is sooooo unforgiving, a split second of hesitation or a miscalculated move will end up in certain death.

Ahhh the memories!

Signature goes here!

I haven't beaten that game, I downloaded it, and it just doesn't feel right with the GameCube controller.

dude, spend the $20. The classic controller is the best option for nearly every VC system.

Wiimote = NES, MS, Genesis, and some other select games.
Classic = SNES, Genesis, tg16, neogeo, and some other select games.
GC = N64 only and not all of the games.

I actually sold all of my wavebirds because I knew I would be fine with two classics.
