Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fit blames me! (AKA I found one!)

I had a hunch to go check out the local Toys R Us today as I was passing by, and lo and behold, there werelike 4-5 Wii Fits out on the table. Must have been good timing as 3 were already snatched up by people who hadn't checked out yet.

So I got Wii Fit, probably the most unorthodox device I'd owned for videogames sinces the NES Powerglove. Yet, I remained optomistic, with all the positivity on the device. I got it started and was told that I'm overweight (tho just above the normal BMI line) and we got to work. I have to say, I am impressed with the thought out minigames, how it makes use of the device and your body overall. The one that didn't make sense was the running in place one, asyou can stand there and swing the wii controller and make the char move. I easily mastered the tightrope game, and pretty much stink at the bubble river game.

The actual excercises go beyond what I'd currently been doing (when I was doing it), so the workout program inside Wii Fit is an improvement over what my normal workout was (minus for archery and surfing of course). I broke a sweat several times during the training. Good exercise.

After about an hour of Wii Fit, I rechecked my body test and I'd lost 1.3 pounds in the process. Guess there's something to be said for this little system. Hell, I might just be able to trade this mini keg in for a 6-pack after all! *pats belly*Most importantly, I can have fun doing it, something I never could do when I used to go to the gym. (in fact, I hated the gym and all the muscle heads there)

Good stuff, definitely lives up to and exceeds expectations!

 and your modest too...

but seriously i'm sure it uses BMI which i believe includes muscle/fat ratios etc.

OT: Great Wii Fit is awesome, don't own one yet but I will... and when I do it will be awesome (got to play it at a friends house, its so sweet).

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Yeah, TRU is the only place that never lets me down for my gaming needs. Best Buy is the worst.

LOL @ Obie. Last I heard, you got more rolls than a Dutch Bakery. ;)

BMI is a simple calculation based on height and weight. If one uses BMI is an indication of fitness, then such personalities as Will Smith, Kobe Bryant and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson are overweight.

Protip: Muscle doesn't jiggle when you wiggle, my friend.

And congrats on finding a copy in the wild Bardicverse, and here's hoping it keeps paying off.

The Dodgeball reference made me smile. Although I think that if you lost 1.3 pounds in an hour, you probably lost that in water. Hell, you could lose more weight by sitting around on the couch all day and not drinking anything.

Nah, it was probably the McDonalds I bought at the same time I bought Wii Fit. ;) Irony at its best.

Besides, I only take in 1500 calories a day, so by that, without working out, I'm slated to lose about 2 pounds a week (regular calorie intake is 2500, for every 500 less, equals 1 lb per week in loss.

It probably would but people with normal intelligens knows when BMI shouldn't be taken seriously.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
