Forums - Gaming - Sweetspot of graphics? Or Fiction

Will there ever be a sweet spot in terms of graphics? Will it ever happen? Costs of game production will only increase. Consoles will be more powerfull in the future, but how far will publishers go into their pockets? Is the future fewer High-End games and more Low-End games?

What would you personally like?

And what will really happen?

I already had my sweet spot - Xbox 1 graphics, and you need nothing better than them. Graphics focus is gonna be the death of the industry.

i will not rest untill all of my games are 1080p resolution. 4000FPS. and human like graphics and tremendous scale

Every time I think they are there, they come out with something better, who knows but they WOW factor keeps going down a little

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Interesting topic.

Another thing to consider is the time invested in graphics vs gameplay. Costs will go down, but much faster than time investment will.

I'd say when it gets to like Uncharted graphics, and MGS4 gameplay, I'd be satisfied.

As technology improves, so does our possibility and skill to achieve better visual and audiovisual imagery, so the roof of game graphics is basically that of technology itself. There will be a cross soon I think, where everyday optics will be too damn poor to make full use of our potential visual peak, kind of like making HD games for SD TV's.
PC games will have a lot better visuals next gen, compared to previous gens, simply because of the incredible advantages the optics and hardware provide (when compared relatively to consoles and the gap between them I mean).

I always figured that PC and Console graphics would get closer and closer, as the generations progressed and diminishing returns hit.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

For me the sweetspot was RE4 graphics

Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

“If any creator has not played Mario, then they’re probably not a good creator. That’s something I can say with 100 percent confidence. Mario is, for game creators, the development bible.

When we get into holographic or direct brain imagery or whatever, there will be plenty of room to improve.

With current hardware setups...we'll reach truly photorealistic possibilities (thus allowing for virtually any kind of graphic style imaginable, not just realistic) sometime within the next decade or two...who knows after that though.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Uncharted was the sweetspot of graphics. No console has yet matched its water effects.

Some PC games piss all over it tho

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
