Forums - Sony - PS4 should not be so powerful next gen?

I think the PS4 should have the PS3 graphics. No need to make the graphics any better when they are already awesome. I hope Sony don't add too much to the PS4 that would cost them $800 to make each PS4 like the PS3. It should cost Sony about $500 to make the PS4 and they sell it around the same price.

I love necros but damn i didnt notice the OP was from over a year ago.

I still stand by what i said. Hopfully next gen will be as powerful hardwarewise as this.

Test

Sony will never release a PS4 this side of 2015 by then the cell will look like a z80 (look it up so called videogamers) so putting in a processor that they will rely on for another decade was silly it will be so old hat by 2011

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

The PS4 will probably be alot easier for Sony then the PS3 as they now have things like the Cell, blu-ray done.. I'm wondering if the cell can be somehow turned into a GPU too as it seems somewhat suited and with ray tracing and such would be ideal

I believe that was the initial idea (when it had 2 cell processors). They then went with Nvidia's series 7 based design which was the highest end at the time (Microsoft went with R500 based core from ATI (a year ahead of what was being sold in stores)).

(not a fanboy)

In the words of Yatzee

"Yes you are"

This coming from one of this site's most one-sided posters.

Oh the irony

@ stewroids and justanian: Much appreciated...

Funny, people actually wanted to bump such an old thread....?

Towards which side? I own a Wii, a DS, a PS3 and a gaming PC

My older consoles are Xbox, Dreamcast & N64

Not exactly the choices of a fanboy are they?

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

As long as they don't release a $600+ system then it should be ok. I might shell out $500 but it better be really worth it!

well if they puss out and make something not state of the art, they will lose a customer.

fine if they should make a cheepo option for the cheep/poor but i want my fully loaded console.

500/600 is fine.

Next console shouldn't exceed $299.

Or maybe have a PS4 basic and a PS4 premium (with different names) for $299 and $399 respectively

If there's a PS4, the launch price will be $100 with 900GB.
