Forums - Gaming - Spore vs LittleBigPlanet, battle of the creative games.

And LPB isn't revolutionary because many PC games have given out level/game editors with the game for years. Anyone ever play with the Morrowind game editor? It was done way before LBP.

I feel both are equally awesome

Spore, easily.

Spore, this isn't even a contest.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

LBP isn't really a creative game, it's just a level editor (I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying that's what it is). Spore is something just insanely huge.

Think of it this way, look at both games pitches:

LBP: We want to make a game that thrives on user created content by giving them an editor that is great at physics and making Rube Goldberg type of machines so people can make their own fun and interesting platformer levels.

Spore: We want to make a game where people create a creature and then take that creature from a microscopic level all the way to galactic empires and give the user complete control all the from the beginning to the "end".

One of those isn't hard to do and the other is a very hard sell (in fact, if anyone other than Will Wright pitched it, the game would never be made).

LBP will be huge.

I'd say it's still too early to tell. LBP has a proven concept and judging by previews, it'll probably be an excellent game. However, Spore has the better concept but it's too new to tell how it actually works. It might be awesome, good, bad, horrible - anything.

It's not too clear sales-wise either. Spore's success depends pretty much, not completely though, on the players of The Sims - mostly the casuals, that is. Spore is probably the one to supposedly interest the 'hardcore' players more than LBP and it will thus sell well anyway (as long as it's good). LBP, however, is definitely going to sell well, the only possible drawback being negative reviews. While it will probably miss the casuals (who it could attract more than hardcore players), it has definitely aroused interest among most current PS3 owners. They'll both be hits (probably). I think LBP is more likely to sell well but Spore has more potential even sales-wise.

Whoops, and forgot to add in terms what will see more creative user content: LBP by far.

LBP -- actual level editor where users create the entire levels
Spore -- They only actually create the creatures, interact with other players creatures and create cities. Still cool and creative, but creating a good level takes more.

I would say that Spore is more revolutionary, but since FUN is subjective, I would choose LBP. Seems like something I´d enjoy more (can´t make a final decision because I haven´t actually played either one)

I have to say Spore too. LBP is creative, don't get me wrong, but it's not groundbreaking. Spore is going to be amazing too. It's unfortunate that it's not coming for console as well as PC though, it would be a great addition to 360's and PS3's library...then again, maybe I can just put Linux on my PS3 and figure out how to get it running on that, then pretend it's a PS3 game! haha..

I agree somewhat, when it comes down to gameplay. Spore is really just a giant level-creator itself. Whats the real objective to the game? To advance to the next level of evolution? When you reach the highest point, whats the next objective? There is none, Space Age in Spore is a Sandbox mode. You'll have to start a new Creature. While I'm not saying the game is gonna be bad, like most of the sims games. Which I found had low replayability, Yes, the Sims sold record amounts, but I don't hear of many gamers talking about what they do on the sims 2 all the time. Its just something you play once or twice (in my opinion) for the fun and enjoyment of seeing what you CAN do. But once you do it, it becomes dull. I fear Spore will have a similar fate.

LittleBigPlanet on the other hand, CAN have the same fate. But if objectives are kept fresh. (Imagine a LBP Capture the flag style game. <.<) Then we could have a massive game with incredible levels of replayability.

Again, too early to tell.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
