Forums - Sales - Why people say GeOW2 will be a system seller?

final fantasy in JAPAN IS final fantasy. don't downcompare it go gears.

they is a LAW to final fantasy in japan.

if the games made the ps2, it won't work for microsoft.

because if games were the reason the 360 would be close wii or at least outselling the ps3 on a big amount.

but all align from launch it is behind.

also ps2 have many other games boosting it sales kingdom hearts 2, persona 3, grandia III released the same year to provide those boost.

By this logic only the first games ever on a franchise will be able to move systems, which is a flawed logic.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

trestres, thats not the point but if the first one was in the same platform

the boost will not big as great as it was when the first game was release, any hyped game will move hardware, but not as the first time it was released in the same platform it will move alot of software but not hardware.

250$ Arcade + GeoW2 bundle will sell gangbusters.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Yeah, the point is that a second game in a franchise can push consoles... Which is untrue.

A few will be pushed, but the second game is the same as the first, if you didn't like the first, you won't like the second. That applies to any game, in general, sequels of games, are just like the games before, if you didn't like them you won't like the sequel and vice versa.

The only time that sequels push consoles is when they jump consoles. Like Halo 3 pushing consoles since it was the first on the 360. And MGS4 pushing consoles, etc.

Win by default again?

There are not any returning franchise for the big three coming this holiday that had their last itenerations on a Last-gen console.

PS3 - none

Wii - none

360 - Fable 2.

So yes, it's a victory for the biggest system seller, though hollow, as it won't push many systems, comprable to what MGS4 pushed or Halo 3 pushed.  If you said "System seller of the year", that'd go to MK Wii or Brawl.

It might not be a huge system seller since it's a sequel to another 360 game, but I think any time you have one of these games where the release is a big "event", it'll generate enough hype to shift some hardware.

While Gears 2 is sure to sell a ton of copies this year, it won't be that big of a big system seller for the 360... the price drop itself will take care of that. Gears 2 appeals strictly to shooter fans looking to get their fix after Halo 3 and CoD4 wears thin, and since many hardcore fans have expressed disdain for CoD:WaW because its being done by Treyarch and set back in WWII, that leaves Gears 2 as the premier 360 shooter for this holiday season.

On the other hand, Resistance 2 could move some PS3's since the first Resistance was pretty much one of 2 reasons to pick up a PS3 at launch... the other was Blu-Ray. I don't see Killzone being a system seller since the first one was mediocre and it doesn't have as big of a name recognition as Resistance... Resistance is PS3's Gears of War.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I don't see it as a system-seller unless they give it a massive, Halo 3-style advertising campaign. But a ton of people seem to see Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 as system-sellers, despite their 'above-average' and 'mediocre' prequels.

What does this have to do with Gears of War being a system seller?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
