I'd celebrate over this, but realistically it doesn't bring anything new to the table. The NPD isn't going to give us more or new data for the U.S. than it already does, Media-Create and Famitsu already cover Japan and make a lot of their data available for free every week, and Gfk-Trak Chart already releases info. on the UK.

I honestly don't understand the value of this. Now, if they expanded to include continental Europe, etc. this would be nice, but...

Actually the NPD does. It just doesn't release that data to the public, save for an occasional, purchased bit of info every couple of months. And from what I understand, Canadian stuff won't be included in this alliance.

It's US/UK/Japan, and there probably won't be much if anything made available publicly.

 WTF no one lives China. They held the olympics in Japan and just adopted a new flag and language. Pfft China....they don't buy anything there.

There are more countries besides the USA? That actually matter regarding the console sales. USA sales make up around 50% of the console sales. 60% of software sales are sold in the USA.

Surely this will lead to even more outrage here, if the Japan numbers for NPD differ....

We would have adjustments every 4 weeks. Some fanboys would find it all to much and keel over and die from the differences in numbers
