I'd celebrate over this, but realistically it doesn't bring anything new to the table. The NPD isn't going to give us more or new data for the U.S. than it already does, Media-Create and Famitsu already cover Japan and make a lot of their data available for free every week, and Gfk-Trak Chart already releases info. on the UK.
I honestly don't understand the value of this. Now, if they expanded to include continental Europe, etc. this would be nice, but...
They don't even count Canada.
Actually the NPD does. It just doesn't release that data to the public, save for an occasional, purchased bit of info every couple of months. And from what I understand, Canadian stuff won't be included in this alliance.
