I think a lot of people saying it wont are shell shocked looking at just how well the PS3 has sold this year. The PS3 has already sold almost double what it did last year at this point, and I see no signs of it slowing down. 15 million total for the year seems pretty likely, unless someone else has reasons stating why this trend will suddenly fall off? |
VGChartz has the PS3 selling 6 million units in the first 8 months of this year. Last holiday season (November and December), the PS3 sold 3.5million units and the Wii sold 6 million units. The PS3 would be very lucky to see 5 million sales during the holidays this year considering past data. 4 million at best. That means, to reach 15 million, Sony would have to sell 5 million PS3s in September and October combined. Not gonna happen.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
