dbot - Care to offer any proof, outside of a trolling comment?

Kazuya - Like dbot, where are you getting this kind of info that no one wants the Arcade? There was just a report, recently, that said in Austrailia, the Arcade is outselling the Pro. When the Arcade launched last year, it sold out very quickly - higher than the 10% rate the Core was selling at.

Consumers do want a hard drive, but they don't have to have it immediately, especially with the price-conscious player....After all, if HDDs were the be-all of selling points, the PS3 would be #1, and the Wii would be #3. But the fact is, that not everyone cares. Not everyone needs DLC, or movies on their system. I agree the HDD is a near-necessity for most players, but not everyone. I will be buying an Arcade soon for the mere reason that RPGs are about the best genre for the HDD-less system.

I'm guessing your girlfriend is getting your current 360.

I am way more interested in what the price cut will do for piracy. Putting the console in reach of people who can now barely afford seems like asking for it to be hacked.

If hardware vs software numbers seem dissapointing in the next few months, it's really clear what happened there. Piracy or it's been sold to people who simply don't have the cash for more games and the knowledge or friends to hack it.

Except they were so kind and they changed the drive in the new models so that it can't be hacked.

Tease.

I don't necessarily think a price drop will skyrocket sales like crazy and give the PS3 no chance of catching up, but it would definitely allow 360 to outsell PS3 for Q4 of this year and get it out of this relative slump. It will have a similar effect to PS3's price drop, since it's the 360's first big drop (at least for a long time).

Off-topic: I played the Too Human demo, and I actually thought it was really fun--I don't see why it bombed in review scores, unless it really f*cks something up later on.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

I predicted a 199 360 ever since last year, and I said around this time as well.

Guess another point for me ^-^

199 360 will outsell the wii and ps3.

How is my belief that the Arcade will be sold at a loss a trollish comment?  My proof is that Nintendo makes between $40 - $50 per Wii selling at a $250 price point.  The arcade is much more technologically advanced than the Wii.  There is no chance that the Arcade can be manufactured, sold to distribution, and still be sold at a profit at $199.  I think the Pro and the Elite will be sold below the cost to manufacture as well.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

And with Jasper, it's most likely below the $200 price point. People forget how much Nintendo rips off the consumer @ the $250 price point.

You can compare game sales when a price drop occurs - Just track similar games from the year before, and see if current games get a boost.

No you can't there's too many factors to consider the effect a 360 price cut would have had on software sales .

- The promotion of the similar games might be more or less than previous years.

-There are more titles on the 360 than there was last year.

- The increase in software sales is not guaranteed to be similar to the increasee in hardware.

-The Price drop may very may bring in a poorer demographic who will buy more used games as opposed to new ones.

If one week there are 50,000 consoles sold, the next week there are 150,000 consoles sold its going to have an impact. It'll be interesting to see if say IU or TOV get a boost the week of the price cut - which implies a certain demographic is being drawn to the console. The same goes for Face Breaker or games like Madden etc.
