Forums - Microsoft - Am I the only one who thinks Inifinite Undiscovery is a dumb title?

the name is unique so its memorable. the fact that its a bit annoying makes it more memorable. like that Head On commercial.

"I like my steaks how i like my women.  Bloody and all over my face"

"Its like sex, but with a winner!"

I think they may have translated it from the japanese title and ended up with that.

I think it is awesome

It depends, if its "Infinate Undiscovery - the first JRPG to sell one million/highest rated metacritic JRPG of this gen" it might win over a few people.

But if its "Infinate Undiscovery - miserable seller/Below 70% metacritic" more people might ascribe to the notion that the game name sucks.

Often its the perception around the product that influences how well the name is liked/disliked by people. Coca Cola... Dumb name or awesome brand?

Tease.

This was dealt with.

Everyone hates the name, but got distracted by the awesomeness of the game itself.

the game its not looking great either a 20-25 hours rpg its a weekend gameplay at must.

Kind of like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, or Mass Effect, right?

This person also said earlier that the PSP has a better jrpg lineup than the DS. He also implied that the DS JRPG lineup was for people who preferred remakes, while the PSP lineup was for people who liked new games.

Quite frankly, I believe this poster is a very large Sony fan that might, from time to time, allow his love for that company to influence his opinions on this forum. I suggest taking his opinions with a grain of salt, until a time in which his opinions prove varied and fair.

Ya, do not mess with the DS or Zen will hate you forever and ever and ever.

On topic: Undiscovery is indeed not a correct English word... yet.

Wouldn't infinite and undiscovery cancel each other out and becomes Finite Discovery.

Means, Limited Exploration.

Means, not much to do in game.

Means, crappy short game.

Hey, I am only joking, don't kill me.

I don't hate anyone, but I do call em like I see em.

If trolling, lies, and fanboyism wasn't such a huge, constant, and unending problem on these forums, I wouldn't have to, but going soft around here is like telling everyone how much you like Pokemon, while in prison.

You'll notice that I've turned a new leaf. I'll no longer be flaming games or consoles using anything but universally accepted truths.

It is the definition of foolishness to judge a game that hasn't been released, and I've realized that, so I'll no longer do it.

If you have a problem with my posts, there's no reason not to confront me openly. No need to be afraid or passive-agressive. Just say, "Zen, you unfairly flamed that guy. You shouldn't do that." and I'll keep that suggestion in mind.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yes it is very stupid

...and for the record, Infinite Undiscovery isn't any more stupid than the "Xbox 360," "LittleBig Planet," "Viewtiful Joe," "Resident Evil," or the Nintendo "Wii."

They're just madeup names that we have gotten used to. The only reason we think it's "stupid" is because this topic was created, and we judged it with our perception, that was based off the TCs perception. If our attention hadn't been drawn, and our perception hadn't been skewed towards the negative, we wouldn't give the name a second thought.

Best name for a RPG was and always will be "Sakura Taisen"

According to the Japanese site of the game, it's インフィニット アンディスカバリー (Infinitto Andisukabarī), it's all in katakana, so they thought the name in english, it's not a mistranslation, it's an invented word... Not like White Knight Chronicles, which has its J-name: 白騎士物語 (Shirokishi Monogatari) which means "White Knight Story" (the early english name)

@steven787

Sorry, i didn't explained myself... I get the superlative and the meaning, but the reason i find depressing the use of these superlatives on JRPGs is because it's getting old for me... I am hearing of this names since the original ULTIMA, and they keep bringing names like that by the second (well, not by the second but you get my point)...

But as i said, the name doesn't ruin the game for me...
