Oh yes, and I'd just like to point out that the Playstation Portable was outsold by the Nintendo DS this week.
and...
MGS4 had a higher % drop during its second week in Japan, than ToV(if my calculations are correct).
Both games are relatively hardcore and front loaded. Both games also suffered from being unable to meet demand with bundles, and the 360 has been in low supply and is now reportedly sold out of its most popular sku in Japan, and won't be restocked until September, as reported by Kotaku.
The sales to console ratio good for both games, despite ToV being much less well-known, less advertised, and more niche than MGS4.
I don't think anyone here is claiming that ToV was a failure for the 360. That's foolish.
Instead, people are claiming that the people who thought ToV would revive the 360 in Japan were wrong. Of course they were. No single game can revive a console in Japan, or MGS4 would have done it for the PS3.
However, the 360 still sold pretty well for the 360 this week, and I believe that the game ToV is the best second week sales figures for a 360 game.
Out of all the games in the world that MS could have gotten to be exclusive, that would have made any impact in Japan, I'd imagine ToV is in the top 5 percent of those games, and it was a very good move not only for Microsoft, but for its customers who happen to be Tales fans.
That said, hopefully this game will go multiplat, so PS3 owners will get a shot to play it as well.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
