Lmao!! my predictions might come true, it all depends how many ps3's would be saled in a week through late july and the rest of the year. I failed to add if there is a price drop on the botton, but it looks like I might not be needing that.

what prediction your 1st or your 3rd?? i guess they are both one in the same though... i can see the 3rd one happening but i dont think it will overcome 6.5 mill that fast after all the 360 had an 8.5 mill head start....

As much as they need a price drop, this just doesn't seem like the right move right now. They're not going to move systems until they've got the software to back it up.

To me, it would have made a lot more sense to wait until Fall, around the release of LBP, Assassin's Creed, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Folklore, GTA4, MGS4, and all that, and then dropped the price for a double-whammy. Heck, they could have afforded to drop it by $150-200 by then.

Dropping it now, they're lacking the incentive to really move systems, and the excitement over this drop will have worn off by the time that incentive shows up later this year.

I just don't see this making much of a difference.

Stop building up expectations for a skyrocketing of sales so that I don't have to listen to people crapping on the PS3 again if it doesn't.

The sales of this will come in the holidays mostly, in July and August it will be an increase but not big (it might reach 360 levels though if it goes well).

Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Well you're very negative about all this. Nothing bad can come of this sales-wise.

Not sales-wise... but it will cost them enough that they probably won't be able to afford a drop when it would really help.

 And it wouldn't help now? This will boost holiday sales a lot. Why wait two more months instead of just cutting the price now and raising sales for the next two months?
