I am pro ps3 and I want you to buy a ps3 but I am gonna try to help.

1. What do most your friends have? You will enjoy having the one they have most imo.

2. What Games do you want? You said MGS4. Are you interested LBP? R2? What 360 games do you even want that you couldnt get on the PS3?

3. You want to save money so the 360 would be better but more important is a choice ur happy with. If you choose a 360 but are sad a few months later the $100

4. How important are ps2 games really to you? I thought it was important to me but it really isnt. To busy playing ps3 games. If it is I encourage you to look for one with BC

5. PS3 is great and you wont be dissapointed. I cant say anyhting for the 360 dont have one and done want one. Most my friends had a 360 when I got my ps3 but now alot have converted to PS3.

idk if I helped but i hope i did.

lol you make it sound like a religion :)

good points though

Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, FF13 verses, White Knight Chronicals, Val Chronicals, Heavy Rain Resistance 2, Socom, M.A.G, [the list goes on & on] u can't play anywhere else.

Buy a PS3, u won't regret it.

I spent a lot of time on the 360, me and a roommate used to share consoles and I used to be a big Wii60 user, but then life came along (messed things up) and I just gave him those 4 360 games and now I'm thinking of getting a system for myself.

But since my house is already wifi ready (laptop, DS, Wii, and PSP kinda need it) 360 would be 200+ the wireless adapter = so now things really swing in PS3's favor.

Whats the signal like where the PS3 will be? My PS3 gets a far weaker signal strength than my cheap wireless card in my multimedia PC next to it. Also what do you intend to use the wireless for? From my own experiences the PS3s wireless has been too slow to stream movies over it.

One option with the Xbox360/PS3 is to connect it to a faster/higher spec wireless access point or bridge if you're concerned about wireless transfer speeds or want to get a better connection for online gaming.

Tease.

Also this is the first time I've heard you could hook up a 360 controller to a PS3 using an adapter, how does that work/how much? Honestly if I could get that for fairly cheap what I got in my head right now would be PS3 + 360 controller adapter + larger hard drive, I'd figure that up vs 360 + hard drive + XBL

i'll tell u one last thing
if u r not going to get one soon
then wait and see what the prive drop can do for the 360, if the ps3 keeps winning then ps3 is ur definite choice
for these reasons:
it will be in 2nd place this generation and the sony gaming division will have less finicial problems that will allow them to strat getting 3rd parties games as exclusive or expanding thier studios and get more 1st party games
if the 360 wins
then buy a 360 and be happy with it

It seems the wind is only blowing one way here. It seems a little unfair. Come on 360 people. Anyway, my opinion:

Last year I was in the same place as you, and I went PS3 after a great deal of deliberation. My made my choice for PS3 for the following reasons: reliability, family friendliness (I have kids, and the PS3 is better at catering to both kids and adults than the 360), backwards compatibility for PS2 games, Blu-Ray, included wi-fi, no further costs, the look of the machine (it looks great, in my opinion, in my living room), the open nature of the PSN, and a bunch of other, minor reasons.

The 360 almost dragged me in because I had several friends with one, and some of the exclusives looked appealing. However, as I could play many of those exclusives on PC, and I could not play many of the PS3 exclusives on PC, the latter was not much of a draw. Really, the only reason to buy the 360 for me was my friends had one, and that was seriously outweighed by the PS3's advantages I listed above (for me). So, I went with the PS3, and I could not be happier. It has been, in my opinion, my best purchase of the last year, and I use it almost every day for everything from upscaling DVDs to playing music and games, to making home movies, to printing photographs, to aiding tabletop roleplay (I'm a tabletop roleplaying games designer and artist), to playing Blu-Rays, to socialising. What I don't use it for is browsing the internet. As it stands, it's still pretty crap at that (but firmware upgrades keep on improving the service).

Lastly, as to the price: when I put together everything I wanted from my console, the PS3 was actually cheaper, and had no extra costs later for a service I believe should be free.

PS: If you do get one, buy a big hard drive. I've filled over 120 gigs already, and I'm adding new content every day, but perhaps I'm the exception, not the norm.

:)

You might have settled my inner debate, I'm liking the PS3 more and more with everyone giving me details (though I already knew most it's mostly peoples experience that I'm worried about), I'm only sad to be missing out on Fable 2, Mass Effect, and gears.

You and me both. I hate the fact that I have to go to PC for those games (when they eventually reach PC, which can be an age), especially as I know that I'll probably never bother buying them in the end. I want to play Mass Effect and Fable 2 quite a lot (I'm a big rpg fan), but know it's unlikely to happen unless I visit my brother's house. That said, I have more than enough games, both exclusives and non-exclusives, to take up my time, and there is a whole bunch more on the horizon that I really want, so I can live with it. Yes, the grass can look greener on the other side, but, honestly, it's pretty bloody green over here as well.

:D

Oh, and although many will diss it, when Home comes I expect many people to be very happy with it (and as many will probably hate it; but I'll not be one of those), as can be seen by the online previews, the social aspects of it really do rock, and are pretty unique for a console. However, I have to be very careful what I say here, as I'm in the Beta, and have digitally signed an NDA.

:)

Anyway, glad to help, even if it's only a little bit.

I'd say it depends on your gamer tastes.

If you want a multimedia center, and you need wireless internet, yes, PS3.

The PS3 probably does have more potential as well, but I feel it offers less currently in the way of gaming library, keep that in mind, but only as my opinion. You'll have to check gamerankings and form your own opinion eventually.

You'll have to wait on your JRPGs if you got PS3. Plus you'll probably spend more money on your initial purchase, along with paying more for used games, and having an arguably poorer library of games, immediately available.

Waiting for a price drop in September is what I would do, if I were getting a 360, and you should also buy your console with the assumption that the RRoD is much less of a problem, and not something I'd worry about with a new console.

If you want a Blu-Ray player, then of course, the PS3 is the best choice. However, in that case, I'd not buy a PS3 until I could find one with full Backwards Compabibility. You'll want to play MGS 1,2, and 3 before you get into 4, and you'll want to play Disgaea 1 and 2 before you play 3. They aren't required, but recommended, and PS2 BC will open up a huge library of classics for you.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@MaxwellGT2000
As you've already got a PSP, the PS3 hooks up with it quite nicely (remote play, media streaming etc). Also there are a few PS1 games downloadable from PSN (which work on all PS3's as far as I know) which you could play through your PSP

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Btw the network adapter is $99 for the Xbox360 or you could get an external adapter which is faster/better than the smaller internal ones for about $45 (Cheapest I've seen) or $25 which i've heard about but not seen personally.

Also what spec is the wireless in your house? N spec or G spec?

Tease.

I believe it's a G but I play all my Wii games with no lag at all online, Me and Naz played a lot of Smash so my router was tested pretty well. The only thing I'm thinking about now is that I really want to play my friend David on XBL but PS3 might be too good to pass up @_@
