I'd say it depends on your gamer tastes.

If you want a multimedia center, and you need wireless internet, yes, PS3.

The PS3 probably does have more potential as well, but I feel it offers less currently in the way of gaming library, keep that in mind, but only as my opinion. You'll have to check gamerankings and form your own opinion eventually.

You'll have to wait on your JRPGs if you got PS3. Plus you'll probably spend more money on your initial purchase, along with paying more for used games, and having an arguably poorer library of games, immediately available.

Waiting for a price drop in September is what I would do, if I were getting a 360, and you should also buy your console with the assumption that the RRoD is much less of a problem, and not something I'd worry about with a new console.

If you want a Blu-Ray player, then of course, the PS3 is the best choice. However, in that case, I'd not buy a PS3 until I could find one with full Backwards Compabibility. You'll want to play MGS 1,2, and 3 before you get into 4, and you'll want to play Disgaea 1 and 2 before you play 3. They aren't required, but recommended, and PS2 BC will open up a huge library of classics for you.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
