There are legal repercussions for Nibris and Fog Studios for lying.
See those logo's and copyrights on the bottom of their web site? Think about that for a moment.

| ookaze said: That's poor support, anyway you look at it, as there are very few games that have good quality for the holidays. Even if Nintendo only had Animal Crossing, it could make a cleaning with this sole title. But the number of games released is already insane on Wii. Also, the number of copies is insane. If Nintendo is stock-piling, and this time I think they are, I don't think they will be able to produce enough games, at least for NA. In Europe, we saw shelves for Nintendo games completely empty, it was an eerie sight. The announcements are coming, but it's not enough. |
What would be enough, then? The only thing that the Wii is lacking at the moment, in terms of third-party support, is big-name sequels, and really, that's not what the system is about. Instead, the Wii is about new gameplay experiences and creative ideas.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Its the usual crop of lightgun games ,on rails affairs with the wiimote as a sword-whatever ,and spinn offs.
Everything is more or less as before.
The only thing I don't agree with in the OP is that only exclusive third party games seem to count in regards to PS3 and 360 when everyone knows 95% of third party titles are shared between both, and only fanboys actually care to lessen the other console's offerings by wanting thid party titles exclusive. Other than that tidbit, solid OP. I've been very impressed with the announcements post-E3 from third parties and hope to hear of many more in the future. Come on Treasure, make that announcement!

There's exactly one lightgun game in the bunch, no on-rails games, and no spin-offs. Please go away.
@ Onyxmeth: Well, that just further emphasizes the point that the Wii is shapin up to be the "console to own" this generation, with "Wii + HD console of your choice" being the setup that "hardcore" gamers will get.

Right, but then that includes an HD console. The way the OP words it makes it seem like the Wii's newfound third party support is somehow taking away from HD console support, which isn't the case at all. I was just calrifying that there is no drought of announcements for third party games for HD consoles, and to a sensible gamer, it doesn't matter that they are multiplatform.
It's getting the support because its using kinda reverse psychology attitude. That being if all the good games go on the PS360 eventually the competition between them will weed out some and those games will flop. Mainly titles that don't have the big brand such as Gears. Thus your starting to see devs take their support to Wii which has a much larger userbase and apparently according to NPD and VGC and very abundant buying crowd. Thus you'll see those games like KORE and ontehr small dev projects come over while the larger devs bring their bigger brands to it in hopes of pushing it to the mainstream.
And more than likely the'll succeed. 2008 lineup for 3rd parties is going to be huge sales wise and you are going to see that carry over into 2009 where support is becomign collosal already.
Question: where are you getting "unnamed 1:1 Star Wars game" from? I know it's inevitable, but did they actually say they're going to make it?

I think it was from the IGN interview with the CEO of Krome Studios (developers of the Wii Force Unleashed and Clone Wars). They're developing 2-3 titles for the Wii next year. The 1:1 stuff came from this part:
IGN: Great to hear, and equally great to see you branching out into different platforms and game types. Now we need to go back to Wii, since I've got questions that the fans will butcher me if I don't ask, so here we go. First off, is your relationship good with LucasArts now? With something like the Wii MotionPlus just being announced, everyone is looking for that lightsaber simulator. We even interviewed with you before and asked, and the response was "We'd love to do it, but unfortunately the tech isn't there." So now where do you go? The tech is there, right? Are we getting that lightsaber simulator? Are you prodding LucasArts?
Walsh: Well it's funny, I was at LucasArts a lot during E3 and it was the forefront of what we were talking about. I mean obviously this year we can't, since the device isn't coming out yet, and Force and Clone are both hitting by thanksgiving, so that's out of the question. With the other stuff we're working on now though, we're definitely looking to incorporate it, so… I think next year it's going to be really, really cool. You're right though. The 1:1 control is on everybody's lips now, and yeah, not this year, but for next year we're definitely working on something. I'll leave it at that.
