Na seriously me little cute niece who is 4 by the way was just watching the tv like a good little girl when a nintendo commercial came on advertising the PINK ds with the BARBIE and COOKING game.

now she wants it really really badly and she has asked me to get it her. she is only a lil kid and i can not say no so i am going up town today to buy her one. i am going to feel so sick in the nelly when i am handing that 100 pounds over the counter, its going to kill me.

So all i have to say is congratulations to nintendo they really know when to pick the times to advertise. it only hit home to me at the very moment when my niece said she wanted a ds with the cooking and barbie game how well nintendo are doing at expanding the market. with the ds that is

i wanted to convince her to get a psp but i didnt want to corrupt her mind, dam i wish she was a boy that way i would just got the psp instead

hahaha lol. i think i will pass on that one. i will just buy a few games and steal her DS for a few hours when she aint looking or when she is being naughty, i will just tell me bro i will have it round mine to make sure she cant get it lol

It actually doesn't make difference which sex the kid is. Kids at that age do, and are interested in, the same things no matter which one is it. It's only the parents who push the "girls stuff and boys stuff". Basically you could get her the PSP, but the problem is, that she doesn't want one, she wants the DS (overall Sony caters pretty badly for that age group). Differences between sexes are practically non-existant before teen age (without outside pressure).

Marketing to kids isn't exactly expanding the audience, it's called maintaining the core audience.

Wonder it they are going to reach that stage with the Wii but then the DS has been out longer...

Heh personally I would start her out with a GBA since they're fairly cheap have many games that are cheap and have many games for her now and as she grows up.

@Maxwell: But the DS goes even further and has BC to GBA. Besides, GBA is hard to find these days, since the stores are out of stock and started to drive the GBA stock down a year ago.
