Truth be told, I liked my 360. It was a nice experience to have another "flavor of pie" but I can't find myself playing it anymore. Unfortunately, it has lost its charm in my eyes as it seems more like ad-space nowadays. On top of that, nothing in its library interests me as I'm not the biggest fan of shooters and JRPG's. This is not to say that this is all that the 360 has to offer but it seems to be the type of titles that really makes it shine. Maybe someday I'll find myself playing if Banjo is any good but until then I'm giving it to my little sister. I personally hate Saint's Row but she can't seem to get enough of it.
I truly love my Wii. a combination of VC, Gamecube and Wii titles seems to keep me occupied and I find myself playing for 9 hours in a day despite it being the casual console. Call me old school by any means but for some odd reason, I don't feel bothered by MIDI music and jagged pixels. When I started gaming, I also thought the blocky characters and not orchestrated music made more unique than any other media device. Nowadays, HD graphics and multimedia capabilities seem to be the focus, not an extra of HD Consoles and I'm sick of it. I actually consider motion-controls a bigger leap forward than photorealistic visuals but that's just me.
I don't know what is it but Nintendo games and hardware in general have a certain degree of charm to them. I often can't use third-party controllers and other peripherals for that matter because of it. I've been a Nintendo fan from NES to Wii and Gameboy to DS and getting anything else seems subpar at this point. I really got my 360 because I couldn't wait for the Revolution. Now that I do have my Wii, I feel complete. So what if the third-party support is lackluster, I seem to be one of those people who "buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games." I will try some third-party games but denying yourself games like Galaxy, Brawl and Corruption, you really shouldn't buy the Wii. But for me anyway, I'm fully enjoying them and with that in mind and I don't regret buying my Wii. If anything, my Wii and incredible first party titles only makes me want to see more of what Nintendo can do for the rest of this generation and the next.
Pixel Art can be fun.
