You're trusting Pachter to make an accurate prediction, Obliterator? The guy's been batting a near-perfect 0.000 for prediction accuracy lately, I wouldn't count on it.

I don't see any practical reason to introduce a DS successor any time soon. It's already defied standard sales trends by having its best year thus far be its fourth one on the market, and it's actually selling slightly better in 2008 than it was in 2007 so far. There won't be a justifiable reason to introduce a successor until 2010 at the earliest, as signs are suggesting that 2008 will authentically be the system's peak year (or possibly its first year of declining sales; hard to say what the next 4.5 months hold).

If they were going to release a console in 2009 we would have likely heard about it by now, and it would be fairly foolish to do so with how the DS continues to sell; and I doubt Nintendo would release a new handheld after late 2010/early 2011 because I think they will want to keep their handheld and console launches to be 18 to 24 months apart. As a result of these two factors I would put their next console as being released in the second half of 2010.

If the US sees a new Nintendo handheld b4 March 2010, I would be freakishly amazed.

As thesource said earlier, 2010 for japan, 2011 for west. DS has plenty of amazing games though so even if all support stopped right now you'd have plenty of games left.

This year is going to be its fourth year in Nov i think nintendo will release a new hanheld in a nother 2-6 years why? cause the gameboy color came out 9 years after the gameboy and the GBA came out. The DS is still having so much success they wont release another hanheld until this one starts to die out.

2010? Summer 2011 in Japan at the earliest then for the holiday 2012 in the West. It will have 2 screens too.
