Disgaea 3.

I am picking it up myself because I know it can keep me busy for a long time.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Disgaea 3 most def!
That game is going to be insane. If it is anything like the games before it it will be equally hilarious as it is fun to play. The game will also most definitely last you longer then any tales game or too human for that matter. Too Human's scores are saying it is very sub-par so far(IGN,GI,1up all reviewed it).
Tales looks to be ok though, you can try that later down the line, or wait for reviews.

Since Tales and Disgaea are in multiple iterations, I am assuming your paying for the soundtrack and/or storyline as the gameplay is not entirely new...

Your best bet is to get a di, give each game two numbers, and whichever number it lands on you buy. simple.

I'm actually considering it. >_>

@ Torillan

These choices are tough. I think D3 will get bashed badly in reviews for the graphics, so idk what to think.

Outlaw I'm disappointed in you. Actually questioning whether or not to buy Disgaea 3? *bop*

Buy ToV, buy Disgaea 3, and rent Too Human

That's not the question at all. I said I have a $50 gift card and can get one of them right away. And I don't know whether or not I handle much more grinding at the moment though. Although, Disgaea 3 does have the advantage of being $10 cheaper than the other two.

 @ Zen

And. Why would I have a Valkyria Chronicles avatar and hype thread if I haven't played a SRPG? (VC looks to be a very new, fresh, and innovative SRPG)

@ Onyx

(congrats on modship btw) That's the thing. I think I might end with too much to play (which I already do) and not be able to put the time in to grind.

If that's the case, then maybe think twice about getting an RPG at all. I don't know your preferences with online multiplayer, but maybe get something with good multiplayer that you can get in and out of without worry. Out of the RPGs you listed though, I would grab Tales of Vesperia, because I remember in Symphonia you could really just cruise through the game without any worries of having to grind., which may be a blessing in your case.

By the way, I saw you have Soul Nomad in your collection. I've been dying to try it out. Is it worth buying?

Still, my assertion stands. If you played Disgaea 2, and don't want to buy Disgaea 3 very badly, you probably shouldn't.

If you have never played Disgaea 2, or especially 1, you should instead go back and play them. The game isn't upgraded very much(or at all) on the PS3, in graphics, and you will certainly get an equal and probably better experience with Disgaea 1, while you wait for Disgaea 3's price to drop.

It's like, I'm a huge Tales fan. After Abyss, I knew that I would buy the next game by Team Symphonia on day 1. If you're a disgaea fan, you should want to buy Disgaea 3 on day 1.

If you're not a disgaea fan, I suggest becoming one, by playing the games in order, for 10 or 15 dollars each, as the game hasn't evolved that much, and Disgaea 1 was much better than Disgaea 2 anyway, so you will get to basically play a great disgaea game either way, yet you will get much more bang for your buck.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

When do you plan on getting the game, whichever one you choose? First day or something? I suggest you wait for IU since that comes out real soon, and you have it preordered already. Beat that first and then buy your next RPG. By the time you finish IU, listen to some user feedback from people who played both games (Disgaea 3 and ToV). I don't know about you, but it sucks having two or more new unfinished games. I feel like rushing one just so I can play the other. Not sure if you get the same feeling.

I have both Disgaeas. I have played tons of the first but haven't really devled into the second. Also, I don't D3's price will drop anytime soon. It took years for the first to finally get cheap.

About ToV, I loved Abyss but wasn't a big fan of Symphonia. I still plan on getting but the I really didn't like what I've played. However, rave reviews can quickly change my opinon.

@ Mirson

I understand the rushing feeling, but I usually take me time and enjoy each game. Im finishing P3:FES at the moment, and have a big backlog.

But I must!

Another fault of mine (for my wallet at least) is the fact that I really like all kinds of games. (bar some sports and puzzle games) So, I'll be getting stuff from a wide variety of games. (From Ar Tonelico 2 to Resistance 2)

Gameinformer gave D3 an 8.25, RPGFan gave it an 8.5 and PSM3 UK gave it an 82. I found those on Metacritic.

Those are the only ones I have found so far.
