Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo WiFi Connection should be getting better

@FaithRaven: Haha. Yeah, i like to find out things by myself too.
Oh, a programmer. That explains it, then you know that it's not going to work anyway as intended.

@Bacon: You're supposed to push the button until it turns red. Green-yellow-red. It's propably not the firmware, since i have the newest one. Maybe it's just a feature that has been taken away from newer models or maybe you just have something wrong with it.

What I've learned from this thread: 100 million Wii's sold!!

@Bacon try turn off the console normally, (yellow led). Then press the Power button again for 4 seconds or more (you can keep it pressed for longer as it won't power on).

The light was yellow, I held in the button...but it just turned the Wii on. lol

and my light did go from green to red. odd, why is it acting normal now when it didn't in the past? hmm...

First line confused me, then I remembered the DS can be used online.

Online is good the way it is, just the friend codes that make it cumbersom.

I just wished that they made the wireless card modular, meaning that it can be replaced/upgraded easily. They could have put out a Wireless N version of the card, which if you have wireless N in your house, dramatically increased your connection speeds.

You get the blue illumination (if the function is on) when:

1. A friend messages you
2. A Wiiware game messages you
3. Firmware
4. A game you've played messages you

If you have a blue light going off there is never any reason for confusion as there always a message for it.

Unlike Sony or Microsoft, Nintendo doesn't see online gameplay as being a core element of their strategy ... They don't believe that online gaming drives hardware sales, don't believe online gaming drives software sales, and as a free service is impossible to make money off of it. Why would Nintendo invest Millions of dollars developing the software to expand their services, and then spend tens (or hundreds) of millions of dollars to build the necessary hardware to produce these services?

In contrast, Microsoft has online gameplay as a core element of their strategy (and Sony has one up-ing  Microsoft as a core element of their strategy) so it makes sense that they have a greater focus on online gameplay.
