Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo WiFi Connection should be getting better

@Faith Raven: WTF just turn it off. If you mean you don't want to use WiiConnect24, you can just turn it off. Or if you want to use it daytime, but not at night, turn the console off by pressing the consoles power button for 4 secs. Then the WiiConnect will be at "24" once you start it again. Don't people know how to operate stuff anymore?

Take it easy pal. I doubt that more than 1% of the Wii owners knows about this feature. Thanks for letting me know though.

My new Wii does not have it's power button light turn red when I hold the button in. It just goes straight to yellow. But I don't care, I have WC24 on 24/7 and I haven't been able to connect in over a month! I will finally be able to connect by the first week of September hopefully.

It is very very slowly getting better. Mario Kart Wii is Nintendo's best online game so far. Plus Wii Speak will be coming out.

I doubt they will get rid of friend codes, what they need to do is have all of your games have the exact same friend code as your console! That way their will only be one number to remember!

I agree.  Having to exchange friend codes for each and every online game is one of the most retarted things I have every come across.

@Bacon: You won't be able to send requests to more than for the hundred people you can have on Message Board. Let's say you have 4 games, each with 30 different friends, you already top the list. Or if you eventually get dozen online games, it's likely that you top the limit.
Of course, i can think two solutions: add more space to message board or take the friendcode to online, where you can have virtually unlimited amount of friends. Nintendo already is using "cloud computing" quite nicely and with WiiConnect24, it's quite easy to take full benefit of it.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I'm glad someone agrees! I have 10 online games, plus the Wii. 11 different codes! 12x10+16(Wii#)=136 numbers! lol

It hasn't stopped them from selling 100million wifi consoles.

Mario Kart is probably the most played online game...

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

@FaithRaven: I wasn't suppose to freak out, it just sometimes feels so unbelievable when someone doesn't know how to use things explained in the manual. If you use your Wiis online only when it's on, just go to settings and select "standby connection" to "off".

@Bacon: Could that be some new firmware update. Hmm... The function is the same as skipping the update, which means it goes to "0". It goes through yellow to red, with less than second in between them. Are you sure you hold it long enough?

I hold it even after the color changes from green to yellow. Oh well though.

WiiConnect24 sucks big time. Why the hell am I forced to keep my Wii powered 24/7 to have access to the Nintendo Channel is beyond me ...

What's the problem with keeping it on? It costs you ~ 0.5 dollars a year

The Wii being hot all the time, thats the problem. It doesn't make any noise or anything but it's hot. And it also keeps the game dvds inside hot.

And actually the main problem is that it's pointless, I gain nothing.

Well I unplug mine every night, and I don't have any problems.

Turning standby connection to off suited me best :)

I'm a programmer, I never read manuals. No fun if you don't spend hours trying to figure an issue which is explained in 10 words in some books.
