I personally don't care one bit about Nascar, but I do think this is a pretty savvy move by Nintendo. They're looking to attract new audiences, and the Nascar crowd is one of those they have yet to gain much traction in, I suspect.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else thinks this is a good or bad idea.  

This makes me sad. Not because I don't see the point of turning left for a couple hours in gas guzzling cars, but because the Republican party and the Canadian Conservative party have also sponsored Nascar. I don't like the thought of Nintendo being in that group. 

I can't stand Nascar myself, but I have to admit that this is a pretty smart move by Nintendo's marketing team, especially if they set up Wii demo stations at races.

Guys, if you don't like Nascar or the hicks that enjoy it, it's not that bad...the more people playing Nintendo should be the better. My dad loves Nascar, but he's heard me talking about the Wii and thinks it's lame...he hasn't actually tried playing yet though...

I dont care about Nascar or realistic racing games (FZero and Mario Kart are great tho) but the more people that buy Wiis will mean more third party support, which will mean more games, and a few of those i will like. :)

 I can't believe Dale Earnhart Jr. missed with that red shell! I don't think he recovered from that banana peel slip.

 BTW, it would be funny for that Wii-sponsored car was done in Forza 2, and then put on the auction. At least it would be in better taste than a certain paint job about a WWII axis power.

However which way I look at this. It's still can't be worse than the psp campaign in Italy.

surprisingly enough, until I looked at this thread (specifically, the images linked from it) I had never gone to wii.com. A bit of a disappointment, not gonna lie.

good move of nintendo, i always felt they should do more sponsoring. i think a lot of sony's success over here in europe came because of their massive sponsoring campaign for the champions league, and it's time that nintendo does something similar.
