Some of the ads pop up on the screen and when I click the X, it freezes. I then have to close the browser and open it again.

That is very annoying.

Get NoScript and use Mozilla. Block all the banners that screw things up. Done and done. I had to start using it because of that "congratulations, you've won an Ipod" ad.
