Forums - Sales - Do we need an adjustment?

@Aj_Habfan: But jumping to the direction NPD shows hurts even more. It would have short term gains, but longer term benefits more from going by the shipments.

Let's say that the numbers would be adjusted to match NPD, people would complain how off VGC is (which they do anyway) and when the shipment numbers come in, they'd show VGC is off (in this scenario, because going by NPD) and would need some correction. After correcting, people would complain how off VGC was.

But companies respond to NPD data's not vgc, so npd is more official than vgc.

It's so awesome that everyone reads the first post, which makes the incorrect assumption that ioi assumes all of his data is perfect and never corrects it, which is wrong, and then they just post without reading what anyone else had to say.

Several people in this thread pointed out that the YTD numbers for VGC and NPD agree, that the console manufacturer shipment numbers are in line with VGC, and that VGC data is corrected every couple of months (Xbox 360, it seems, is usually corrected downward).

I was under the impression that NPD was measuring sales to consumers in US-only, while VGChartz was measuring shipments from manufacturers for the Americas (not just the US).

Why are some posters claiming the numbers should match? Isn't this comparing apples to oranges?

We will have to wait and see what ioi thinks

VGC should be NPD + 10%, but the Xbox is 100% higher on VGC, and the PS3 is about 20% lower

you are correct, my balls could use some readjustments. ahhhhh, that's the stuff.

How unbecoming of you, but I like it.

PS: For the love of God, I cannot stand it anymore, is she actually eating a rope?! (Avatar)?

Why 10%?  Is that an immutable number, or just a mean value of what it usually is when other countries and factors are taken into consideration?

Adjustments will come, they always do, relax.

As in go buy us some coffee.
