Work ON it. Just kidding :D. Just type the title correctly and the rest (as long as it is readable) is not a problem.

With the next round of systems, Sony should have wised up, and should easily blow MS out of the water again. Maybe then they'll get the clue. |
The Xbox360 is going to end up being a console that will actually make them money me thinks. If they have good quarters like the last each time, I don't see how they could end up in the red for this gen. Next-gen will be a win for MS if they can finish this one off with a bang.
On the topic of another player in the game... I don't know. Seriously, there aren't many companies out there that are ready to drop the dollars required to enter. The only one with deep enough pockets would be Apple, like everybody else is saying. But if they test the waters with the Iphone and it turns out sour, then there is no chance for the next gen for sure.

I thought MS was finally in the black for the console? I do agree this one will have to sell for them. Talk about the red Sony is HUGELY in the red with the PS3. I like having sony and MS in it keeps them both in check and the prices dropping

MS lost more than $6,500,000,000 on the Xbox and the first few years of the 360. They made a profit of a few hundred million dollars in the last few quarters.
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Hey I did get the title right, you know whats funny I write about 500 emails a day you think I would type better
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Apple would fail so hard! They don't have any experience, no franchises, they would fail in japan (Hi @ Microsoft) and last but not least, you just don't connect Apple with gaming at all. Apple = something portable for me :D
iPod, iPhone, macbook, ibook and the list goes on.
Even Apple TV wasn't successful, the gaming-market is pretty rough.
The iPhone might be the right way to break into gaming, though.

Okay, here is my little dream. Apple will release a handheld together with Microsoft. Something like the iphone, with Live anywhere. Apple will do the design, MS the software and the connections to the developers. lets call it the ibox. That would be interesting. I can download songs from iTunes straight on my 360 / ibox and pay with MS points. ahhhh... I know it's never going to happen, but let me have my dreams plz.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Yeah I agree they lost a boatload but they should stay in the black for the rest of the 360 lifecycle. Thats what I mean I dont think anyone can come in and just make money on a console they need to build up the buisness as MS did.
And how much has sony lost on the PS3 this round?

Ppl shouldnt wish for companies to be blown out of the water or taken out of the race. The competetion is great and is what makes each console strive to make their products more attractive. The insecurity of fanboys is an ugly thing of this business and if one company was to drop out all consumers would feel the wave.

Per the latest July NPD numbers qutoe from MS " closed out a profitable year with $2.1 billion in growth in our Entertainment & Devices Division (Microsoft internal data)." and they should continue to make money

$2.1 billion growth doesn't mean $2.1 billion profit. And the entertainment division is not just Xbox. It also includes stuff like Zune.
All three are going to make new consoles. And they are even doing R&D for them at the moment.
As for a new entrant, i can't see that coming, and anyway there's only Nokia that i could imagine coming into the console market.
