Grats on 120, nice round number. It isn't a surprise it's the best selling console though, as it's the most recent leader - if the Wii doesn't surpass it I'd be disappointed in it, really.

As for the greatest console in terms of games, it's preference, of course, but since this generation is in a transitional period I'd say the Wii should be compared more to the NES/PS1, just like the Wii successor will (hopefully) be comparable to the SNES/PS2. I could be totally off, but that's my guess, assuming Nintendo keeps its momentum onto their next console.

I am pretty certain that it is undertracked, there are not over 10m around the world. But as it is avaliable more widely, it is much harder to track accurately

'grats to the PS2. Definitely the greatest console of all time. I mean, it had what, like 6000 games? and it could play all PS1 games too. (that's like 10000 games) I seriously doubt any console will beat that. Ever.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

How odd... it's as if Wikipedia is a useless source for reliable information.

SONY the company, last fiscal report (quarter ending June 30th) had the PS2 at just under 132 million SHIPPED.

Now am not certain, but I believe that 132 million also includes a good number of consoles that were sent out as replacements for early models... I have no information about the failure rate of early models but at a guess at least 5 million will have been directly replaced by Sony..... that brings the SHIPPED TO RETAIL down to 127million.

I don't have much doubt that the PS2 is undertracked here on VGC, the PS2 has been released in many regions that no one, anywhere, has any sales data for.... but believe me... the PS2 is no where near 140 million sold... that was a mistake (or perhaps even a lie) by whichever Sony employee stated it.
