What didn't you like about the morph ball in Metroid Prime?

Oh lol nothing really. Just thought I shouldve said something like that since the camera actually zooms out when you use the morph ball.

You know why the games go in third person view when using the Morph Ball or the Screw Attack? Because these things don't work in first person view.

It's very probable that the developers experimented for a long time how to transfer Samus Aran's abilities into the third dimension and after careful testing they came to the conclusion that most things work better in first person view, rather than third person view.

Agree with what youre saying.

Now though with new technology and what not they can try to fix what they probably couldnt do before. That and the team was American. I think if one of the Nintendo teams worked on it the series wouldnt have gone First-Person.

Nothing against Retro Studios!!! Just have to add the little bit

Metroid in 3D works better in first person than third person, because I say so. Three awesome games and you get to see the world through the eyes of a woman. What more do you want?

If you want the series to be in third person, you better explain how that would work and be superior to the games in first person.

Uhm..............................................................no.

Youve never even seen Metroid in Third-Person so it can possibly be better. I dont develop games so I cant answer that but I know its possible and Id like to see it in Third-Person.

i think metroid in 3rd person would have huge camera problems.

I don't, but it'd still be stupid. The biggest trouble with the camera would be aiming at enemies all around you; above, behind, left, right, but it works just fine in Zelda games. Puzzles wouldn't be to hard. Jumping/platforming wouldn't be difficult. I think it'd be easy, just no where near as good as first person

If it works for zelda why cant it work with Metroid?

@SmokedHostage
Well they can just change it up a bit for third person. If metroid went third person you shouldnt expect a Prime like experience to begin with.

Many aspects of the game are right in your face.  A 3rd person perspective would be obscured by the character.

Shooting as well as scanning (which plays a huge role in the game) just wouldn't work right because of the persepctive is off.

The HUD also plays well into the first person persepctive and you'd lose that ambience going to 3rd person.

I skipped it on the gamecube.Maybe because I was 11? I dont know...FPS didn't grab my attention back then.

It's not a first person shooter.  It's a first person adventure with shooting elements.

Exactly...It fits more into the category of FPS then action-adventure.

Metroid Prime is not a shooter.  There are more than just shooting in Metroid Prime, there are elements like Morph Ball mazes, platform jumping, and puzzle solving.  And I say these elements are more than 50% of the gameplay experience.

Shigeru Miyamoto (you had better know who that is) was the one who suggested that it be first person.

You REALLY need to try it. It's absolutely nothing like most FPS games. Prime is exactly how metroid should be, except in 3-D.

'Cause in zelda you have a sword and a shield and that's what you mainly use, in Metroid you have a gun and everything else is killed using only your gun. Doesn't Zelda go into first person when you use items like the bow, grapple, or even the boomerang?

Also as a side note. I don't know what FPS games you have been playing to hate them so much but the category is one of the most developed and mature categories out there. Right up there with RPGs and Turn-based/RTSes.

The game involves shooting, yes. It IS Metroid. That doesn't mean its right to classify it as a shooter, however.

You shoot arrows in Zelda. Does that make it a shooter?

Once again, I'm going to say that it's a first-person adventure game with shooting elements.  It's kinda like how Zelda is a third-person adventure with RPG elements.  Also I played this game less than 48 hours ago so I doubt I need a gamespot review.

No need to go stereotypical.  It was Shigeru Miyamoto who wanted it in 1st person.  Did you know he also wants a 1st person Zelda game?

Because they have different kind of gameplay, in Zelda you don't shoot in most of the games, in Metroid you do. In that case, why don't they make a FPA Zelda, like you, i'm sure there are some people that would like to see a FPA Zelda.
