#10: Top 10 Great Games That No One Played
Presented by: Gamezone.com
List summary:
10. Okami
9. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
8. Conker's Bad Fur Day
7. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
6. Shenmue
5. Motor City Online
4. Ico
3. Jet Grind Radio
2. Beyond Good & Evil
1. Psychonauts
To say that NO ONE played these games is obviously exaggeration, but outside of gaming forums, these games are often ignored. They ALL had un-fantacular sales, but ARE fantacular games. I really need to play Ico. I loved Shadow of the Colossus but for some reason never got into that team's other PS2 game. And honestly I tried Psychonauts but I just didn't get into it. Yes, the writing is fantastic and hilarious, but the platforming is about as fun as watching molassus going uphill in January... with crutches...
#9: Top Ten Budget Games
List Summary:
10. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
9. Project Gotham Racing 3
8. Command and Conquer: The 1st Decade
7. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
6. Puzzle Quest
5. Madden NFL '07
4. The Godfather
3. Viva Pinata
2. Baldur's Gate 2: Ultimate
Collection
1. The Orange Box
I have to admit it: I'm not a Baldur's Gate 2 fan. I just didn't like it and un-installed it soon after I started playing. I was just totally bored with the thing the whole time I played it. Other than that, this list is pretty good. I wasn't aware that Oblivion went for such a cheap price nowadays. Oh, and the fact that not everyone on the planet has bought the Orange Box is a crime.
#8: Top Ten Developers of All Time
Presented by: ripten.com
List Summary:
10. Activision
9. Sega
8. Square-Enix
7. LucasArts
6. EA
5. Ubisoft
4. Konami
3. Capcom
2. Namco
1. Nintendo
I think this list might be more rooted in the past than the future, but it still features fantastic choices. The fact that both Valve and Blizzard were given a polite shaft on this list is unfortunate, but I highly doubt that anyone without a football for a brain will debate ripten's choice for #1, and for good reason. Nintendo has, does, and will always rock.
#7: Top Ten Video Game Compilations
Presented by: Gamezone.com
List Summary:
10. Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded
9. Final Fantasy Chronicles
8. Sonic Gems Collection
7. Midway Arcade Treasures 2
6. Power Stone Collection
5. Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1
4. Mega Man Anniversary Collection
3. METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY
2. Mega Man X Collection
1. The Orange Box
Yes, yes, The Orange Box returns triumphantly to top a second list. I love collections, especially ones on the Wii, because it's hilarious to me that anyone would buy a Sonic game for $8 when it's possible to get 12 of them for $4 on one disk via the Sonic Mega Collection. If a company makes a collection disk, it usually means that the company is going down, and they need to cash in on the great games they made in the past FAST. And it's a great thing for consumers. Check out this list AND these games.
#6: Top 10 Memorable Moments In Gaming
Presented by: Playstationlifestyle.net
This article is written using almost entirely pictures with captions, so it's best if you just click the link and read it yourself. It brought back a lot of memories of my own. Check it out for a giant dose of nostalgia. Also, read the comments on this one. The author of the article truly does have a level of class that's almost unheard of in modern-day journalism.
#5: Top 10 Things We Hate About Gaming
Presented by: GameDaily.com
List Summary:
10. Defective Points Cards
9. Annoying load times
8. When big game designers let us down
7. Wallet draining prices
6. Moronic online players
5. Fan boys
4. Broken games
3. Packaging from hell
2. Rushed hardware
1. Crappy games
I'm not sure why the packaging thing is ahead of fanboys on the list, because I HATE HATE HATE fanboys. They make me embarrassed to admit to being a gamer. To everyone reading this: If you hate any of the three present consoles, you're an idiot and there's a real good shot that you smell like rauchy, unshaven donkey butt. All three are great. So for the love of all things Brazilian, please shut up. So yeah. Good list, though...
#4: Top 10 Most Disappointing Console Exclusives
List Summary:
10. Ninety-Nine Nights
9. Brute Force
8. The Bouncer
7. Perfect Dark Zero
6. Blinx
5. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
4. Star Fox Adventures
3. Haze
2. Lair
1. Killzone
I don't know about you guys but I never had high expectations for Star Fox Adventures. Running around with a little whip-stick isn't what Star Fox is about. I totally agree with the rest of this list though. Never played Ninety-Nine Nights, though.
#3: Top 10 Gaming Consoles of All Time
List Summary:
10. Intellivision
9. Gamecube
8. Xbox
7. Playstation 2
6. GameBoy
5. Atari 2600
4. Playstation
3. Wii
2. NES
1. SNES
I actually happen to keep pretty close contact with Old-Wizard and am completely unsurprised by the lack of Sega on this list. Those guys hate Sega and everyone that likes it. I'm not as much of a Sega Hater but I more or less agree with this list, except for the total lack of the number 64.
#2: Top Ten Ways to Die in Video Games
List Summary:
10. Being Touched
9. Run'd Over
8. Lazer'd
7. Suicide
6. Telefrag'd
5. Bottomless Pit'd
4. Traffic Cone'd
3. Torn Asunder
2. Impaled
1. Chainsaw'd
Both hilarious and mildly disturbing, I give this list an enthusiastic 37 pancakes out of 10. I think being touched should be higher up the list however, as no one at Nintendo has ever even attempted to explain why a flame-throwing Italian man touching a turtle would turn him into a fireless midget.
