Forums - Sales - At this rate, how much time would it take for the PSP to catch the DS in JP

The true thing is that the DS didn´t see that many games this year, while the PSP has seen Monster Hunter and dozens of other small releases while at the same time it sells as a multimedia system which means the hardware sales are not solely driven by software available for the system.

Currently the DS is seeing more releases again, with Dragon Quest as the lead title and suddenly sales increase steadily on a weekly basis.

Saturation is only half of the story, there have been far more and far bigger releases in Japan last year for the system and I highly doubt the DS would sell less than 100,000 units each week if it got so many big games this year as well.

Actually the second half of this year seems to have many big releases such as DQVI, DQIX,Chrono Trigger, Pokemon Platinum(huge), Kingdom Hearts 358/2, and many smaller titles. So I could see the DS keeping or surpassing these 60k sales. I agree with you though there weren't too many big releases the first half of this year.

The PSP will never catch the DS in Japan. Simple enough - never.

PSP will come close and it can go over 100K unlike Ds even wiht such games lik DQ.

Jeopardy?

What is the opposite of Wii Fit?

What does a Fim wear?

Which Sony console sells more software?

What does Nintendo make?

Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his power level?

In a race, who would win, if the PSP was on a horse and the DS was on a bicycle?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yes, that was very funny, but here's thing that I just calculated(so it might be false, cause you know, I've never calculated anything exactly right, lol, but I'm good at math, so go figure).

If the DS stopped selling right now, and the PSP sold 100,000 units a week, it would take the PSP 2 and 1/2 years to catch the DS in Japan.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

With phatasy star on the PSP currently I think it should help spike sales for a few months and at the rate its selling I think it would take at least 20 years if they are lucky.

At this rate, it wont ever catch the ds. In hardware or in software sales.
