In my opinion, anecdotal evidence is a waste of time. It proves nothing.

the only things that mean anything are graphs and lineups

I was building up a computer for my son to use as a PC for his adaptive software. I put more memory, a bigger, faster hard drive, and a video card that does DVI-D out at 1080P so I could use it as a HTPC as well. The second build up was more of an "accessorization" for a laptop. I picked up some speakers, Gyration Gyro Mouse and Wireless Mini Keyboard, and an external USB 2.0 drive to use it as a portable presentation device to use with my Sharp DLP Projector.

Nice builds, you will have to let me know how your Son enjoys the new build for the adaptive software.  I deffinately miss having a Frys nearby for coputer components.  The seclection was fanominal.  Anyway, didnt mean to get off topic.

Anecdotaly anecdotal evidence equals anecdotal equasions that Anecdotaly piss everyone Anecdotaly off, so Anecdotaly your thread is anecdotal.  Just my thought!

the other day, my local walmart had one 80GB MGS4 bundle and no 360s of any model. weird.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Just a bit of anecdotal evidence... I have been in and out of Frys over the last week as I've been building a couple of computers.  About a week ago and they had a pallet of 20 gig Xbox premiums right next to a pallet of 60 gigs.  On the pallet of 20 gigs, there were some arcades and elites but the majority of the pile were 20 giggers.  Some were bundles @ $319 with a couple of games and some were the standard $299 pro with no extras.

As of last night they were all gone...  The 60 gig stack was combined with the arcades and elites but ALL 20 gigs were gone.  I was actually quite surprised to say the least.

As a side note, they had a small pile of PS3s -- about 4 40 gigs and about 4 80 gigs but no MGS4 bundles.  This pile was new as they didn't have stock of either last week which kind of surprised me.

Again, this is just anecdotal at my store but sort of goes along with what VGC has been reporting... 360 selling well (20 gig pricecut) and PS3s are a bit harder to come by.

It's a pretty good deal really.

Are these 80 gig PS3 are with Back compatibility or without backward compatibility..? i thought they don't have any non bundle, without backward compatibility 80 gig model for sometime... so just a bit curious.

Maybe some store have released the new 80 gig earlier..

Hmmm... Good question.  I didn't actually look to see if they were the 80 gig backward compatible.  I'm assuming they were, though, because they were priced at 499 while the 40s were 399 so I suspect they had the BC 80 gig version.  I'll check next time I'm in there.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

what about the Wii

Frys was out of Wii's on that day. They had about a dozen Wiis in stock during my first visit and they were gone by the time I left the store (about 45 minutes). They rolled out a cage-on-wheels of Wii-Fit (60 units) and they lasted about an hour. I bought one for a friend since I knew she was looking. I'm not interested in the device, however. The Wii is irrelevant, however, because it continues to sell out completely in the United States. Stock may arrive and hang around for a few hours, but for all intents and purposes, it is still 100% sold out.

I need to peep out Fry's. I need to pick up a few sticks of RAM for my laptop and some accessories for my new PC build. I heard a phrase - friends don't let friends shop at Fry's. Do you think they are a good store or when you buy something, do you have to watch your back.

OT: I am amazed at how well Soul Calibur sold on the 360, especially after folks said the PS3 version would outsell it.

Just buy the RAM from NewEgg. Prices are typically better if you take advantage of the deals they often have.

I like Fry's, but it's definitely best for those who know exactly what they want at the exact price they're looking for.

Prices there fluctuate on a constant basis, and they always have their special deals (frequently limited stock, meaning out of stock unless you go when the doors open) which are often excellent.

It's good to price shop there anyway.

The Fry's on Hamilton in SJ had a bunch of 60GB 360s, a fair amount of $319 20GB "bundles" a bunch of Arcades and a bunch of Elites, many of which looked like old stock, judging by the condition of the boxes. They didn't have any 40GB PS3s, but they had a fair amount of MGS4 bundles. The 40GBs are definitely becoming scarcer in the Bay Area.
