yea and virtua fighter was big in japan too and look at what happened to that. Seriously I don't expect great sales from tekken, there will be a boost but no more than a game like gundam musou which is nothing more than a blip on the map.

Eh, I think it will reach 2.75 mil if White Knight releases this year.

Ah, but according to my theory, Tekken here will sell at Tekken Tag levels. The theory that says since selection is so low, and choice unavailable, consumers will purchase the titles that are availalbe, instead of the ones they personally choose. That's why games like DMC and MGS4 can do numbers similar to their last gen itterations, with a much lower userbase.

The fans have nothing else to buy. Therefore any big game that Sony(or a 3rd party heavily supported by Sony) throws at them will be bought. Last gen they might have 5 other games to choose from, this gen, if they want to buy 4 games a year for their PS3, they'll have to buy the ones that Sony tells them to.

This factor is the main reason our comparisons between this gen and last gen sales of particular series don't match up like they should, comparitive to userbase.

Another factor would be early adopters for the PS3(which are the only people purchasing the console in Japan) are core gamers, and therefore, buy more gamers than the average PS2 owner. However, that factor alone seems a little thin to hold the brunt of what the numbers show.
