Forums - Microsoft - My impressions of Halo 3 (SP only)

Halo 3 should  not be judged solely on its single player mode. The game's weakest point is its campaign and lack of storyline.

Halo 3's online is amazing and only a few games come close to what Halo 3 has to offer as an online gaming experience. The graphics may not be top notched but it is a fun online gaming experience and lots of online gaming options.

Play a game on both SP and MP before drawing to a conclusion. But is all a matter of opinion and personal tastes.

i've played halo games alot, alot and alot.

Halo 1: was a really cool game, good story, graphics and it was awesome on both split screen and system link. I've spend weeks with that game and its one of the best shooters

halo 2: a even better game imo, although the campaign isnt as good as halo 1 it is still fun and story is interesting. But online is epic, the best online shooter game i've played. Split screen is epic as well. The weapons rule, all the combos, every weapon is useful. And while some may be overpowered i think they add some strategy into the game. The maps are awesome, there are some shitty ones but mlg on lockout, midship, warlock and sanctuary is genius. It sucks that they removed the clan thing though.

halo 3: a crappy game... It sucks, its sucks hard compared to 1 and 2. The campaign isnt remotely interesting, story sucks as well. Splitscreen is dire, its fun for a couple of weeks then it bores the hell out of you. Why? well there are tons of reason

the aiming isnt as good as halo 2.

they've fucked up the weapons as well. Like the br, the br was one of the best weapons on halo 2, this is not the case anymore. The combos are not that interesting and they've removed the noobcombo all together. The plasma pistol isnt good anymore, neither are the smg and the sword(one of the coolest weapons in halo 2) turned to be crap, crap, crap. Sniping is also bad, they've removed sweep sniping which was very cool and its almost as easy to nonscope as scoping. The hammer is one annoying noob weapon which hurts you even if you're not hit. All and all the weapons are not as fun anymore.

But the problem with halo 3 is the maps. There are none really good maps, and plenty of boring ones. Even lockout, the best map of halo 2 is crap on halo3. They've removed the jumping, and camping spots altogether in the halo 3 version and the map turns out mediocre at the best.

A couple of other complaints are the lack of clan match making and the level system. Its just to easy to reach level 50, which was nearly impossible in halo2(as it should be). All in all i am very disappointed with halo 3.

Are you fucking serious? How is removing the noob combo a bad thing?

Sniping is significantly improved in Halo 3. Sweeping was taking advantage of the auto-aim in 2 and made things way to easy. Now it requires a bit of skill and patience to headshot people. The BR is still the best weapon in 3, the only difference is that now you have to lead people when they're at long range. Its a bit of an inconvenience but it takes quite a bit more skill to pull off.

I agree with the complaints about the maps though.

I have been playing FPS games since 1995. I held a LAN party when the Quake Beta was released(tons of fun), slaughtering folks with the nailgun. Halo 3 is great. The gameplay is balanced to an incredible level. Removing snipe pistol from first game, noob combo from second, super bouncing, sweep sniping, how they handled melee encounters, battle rifle bullet spread, bandwidth cheating, etc were all grade A changes Bungie made. The weapons are incredibly balanced, with each weapon on the battle field being useful(except for the SMG, to me at least). The gameplay is just so incredibly refined. Sure it is not for everyone, but for the 700,000 unique players that play daily, they enjoy the **** out of it.

I just think that you cannot give a game such a ridiculously high score for something that has a distinctly average SP game mode. I realise that the MP could be great, but I am not paying for live, so I cant play that

Well, I can see your point.  I have only played through the campaign once(and wasn't impressed), so SP is obviously not on my radar.  Maybe they should provide two seperate scores?

lol. if you think Halo is hard, you should try learning Warhawk... (both are worth it btw)

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I like the game...

The campaign is rather entertaining considering this was the first time ever I got into Halo.

Halo: Combat Evolved I played on the original Xbox and beat it same can be said for Halo 2.

But I never played the multiplayer on Halo 2. All the Halo games provided an also story and I catched on perfect.

Halo 3 multiplayer is rather entertaining, but the game is getting highly repetitive as people know where each weapon is at. It's sort of linear in a way.

Sad, but I truly enjoy it. Maybe you should give the game more time. And not rent it but own it.

the campaign did suck but the last mission in the warthog was the best mission in a game ever.......a race against time with stuff blowing up around u, with the halo music going on. i must have played this mission many many times

SKEEZER AND NINTENDO FAN GIRL ARE MY NEMESIS

YES TO BEER

halo 3s campaign was the biggest letdown for me.however the multiplayer is where the game true srength is at,however i dont have gold anymore either,so i basically haven't touched it since.
