Or at the very least rent it! It's fast, it's intense and it's incredibly good looking for a DS title.
Now I know what your thinking: "Oh great, WW2 game #347..." Yeah, I thought that too. I normally don't even like WW2 games. But the videos looked good so I tried a rental. Now so far I've only played a few DS games: and asside from Touch the dead, none of them were really of the action/shooter variety, so this was a departure for me. But I was pulled in by the immersive controls.Â
The bottom pad is like a mouse pad. You use it to aim, throw grenades and jump into vehicles, with the control pad for running and the L button for shooting. With the exception of turning, which can occasionally use more than one DS swipe, the controls are bang on, and you'll find yourself firing off head shots in no time.
What really suprised me is what they managed to squeeze out of the DS hardware. While the textures might not always be so pretty, there's a ton going on on screen. Dirt shoots up when bullets hit the ground, explosions fill the area, and scripted events occur all the time. Buildings collaps, planes crash and tanks smash through walls quite often.Â
As for lasting appeal, The game has three campaings, each consisting of numerous levels with three difficulty levels each. It's probably not the longest gaming experience, but it's entirely replayable. And I will definately be replaying it. Infact I'm probably going to buy it this week.Â
At the very least you should rent this game just to see what the DS can do.Â
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
