Would it matter if copies where eaten? In the end, they still sell the same amount of games and profit would most likely not change all that much across platforms. And I think that the added costs of porting are easily balanced with the larger user base.

I woulda figured at least Merc 2 would hit the Wii. Dunno why this is. Reasonably bad marketing move, imo, considering it would probably make money off a direct port.

This is exactly why I recently purchased an HD console. I love Nintendo made games but they will never break out of their stereotype. It doesn't matter if the Wii sells 5 times what they're doing now... they will always get the shaft from third parties (majority) when it comes to T/M rated games.

It's been what... two years now, and again Nintendo will run the show.

Damn, Nintendo's awesome!!! They should invest in expanding their game divisions exponentially, ban third parties all together and do what they do best!

If they did that it will be N64 VS PS all over again...

@steven: Considering PS2 has four times the Wiis userbase (and double the whole current gen systems base), you could be correct. It only depends what kind of overlap there's between the consoles demographics.

@iamfanboy So that is what we are seeing with the DS? I don't think so. Look at DS suppor compared to that of almost every next gen console. It has the best Japanese support, and much better western support than the Wii, and probably equal to the PSP. So I don't think that is the case.

This is why I am re-buying 360 on the Sept. 20.

Nintendo has lost $300+ (just off the hardware) that I would have spent on Wii Games if Nintendo had gotten on the ball and pushed third parties a little bit.

Everyone complains about money hats, except me.

Long term, Nintendo needs core gamers to stay loyal and (mostly) exclusive Nintendo owners to maintain the money printer.  It's a key component.

Now it's too late, too many Wii owners are already multi-system owners or planning to be.

If Nintendo had dished out $20 million for a dozen third party games for the core a year ago, then it wouldn't be a problem now.  Nintendo would have good press from mainstream media and gaming press.  Casuals would show it off in their homes and hardcore would testify to it's greatness.

This is going to come back and bite them in the ass in a couple years.  It's history repeating itself... all over again.

This is why Nintendo could never have the Sony-like dominance for home consoles even in it's NES/SNES days; because they don't know how to deal with third parties and they are stubborn. 

That's why they're so bad at online play, they can't play well with others and figure everybody else is just like them :P

That being said, Nintendo is a very innovative company based on strong business fundamentals; I have no doubt that they will make a ton of money.

Hmm, why didn't you include Persona 4. That'd be quite a goodie for Wii only RPG fans.
