I almost sweared I would never buy a Microsoft console but I did. I really hate Microsoft as a corporation but I have to admit that with the Xbox, they are playing it well. They are buying most of the good rpgs from the Japanese companies.

What drove my purchase is 2 things: Tales of Vesperia and Final Fantasy XIII. I never really wanted a PS3 but now that most good RPGs are either exclusive to Xbox360 or multiplatform, I don't see the need of ever getting a PS3. It's a bit ironic because last generation I only had a PS2. Now, I have a Xbox and a Wii. I still prefer the Wiimote and will most likely get the multiplatform titles for the Wii but there's so much things I would miss by going with Wii alone.

I would like to know for all of you that purchased a 360 instead of PS3, why did you do so? Do you feel that a 360 owner has any reason to buy a PS3?

actually, i'll give you 5 good reasons to buy a ps3.

1. MGS4

2. Uncharted

3. GT5: prolouge

4. Heavenly Sword

5. Super Stardust HD

but then again, i just sold my ps3 and all 8 games i had and got myself a wii and an xbox360 with lots of games for the same amount. win win win for me.

Good man, My 360 has been temporarily retired lol but some good games I suggest are saints row, Phantasy star and WWE smackdown vs raw 2008

To your first statement:

This one is easy to justify. Once you realize you should hate every company equally, it's very easy to buy the products that make your life better :)

Your second statement:

I bought a 360 at launch, a PS3 at launch, and another 360 a few days ago. (I also have a Wii). I have all games available to me. If someone asked me what my favorite games this gen are, I would list these 6:

  • MGS4
  • Gears of War
  • Uncharted
  • Mass Effect
  • COD4
  • GTA4

I am sure my list in a year will include LBP, and Fable 2. As you can see, there are reasons to own both consoles. The only question is, is it worth it to you.

are u a final fantasy maniac like me? if u are u gonna regret it coz u are missing out FF versus 13. its one of few remaining reasons that i believe i made a correct choice by choosing ps3 in the 1st place

You make two interesting points:

1. Many of us who dislike MS OS/Apps/Corporate-Behavior have given their 360 product a shot.  My experience has mostly been positive (pros: no RROD after 2 years, great games library, great XboxLive experience... cons: DVD drive is too loud, Gold-account profile inflexibility by MS), but I realize others have had bad experiences.

2. Many PS2-only users from last gen (such as you and I) have chosen the PS3.  I have a good-sized library of PS2 games, but still chose the 360.  This really damages the argument that PS2 fans from last gen are "loyal" to Sony.

I bought the 360 instead of the PS3 for two reasons:

1. Acceptable price (I grew tired of waiting for the PS3 and heard that the initial price of the high-end version would likely be over $500, which actually occurred at launch)

2. Halo/Xbox Parties

I wasn't planning on buying a Playstation 3 for myself, but my girlfriend. She is a HUGE Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Tomb Raider fan - all exclusives to the Playstation (I've bought her every game available on PS2, plus a few PS1 games for her PS2).

Then Tomb Raider went multi-plat.....

Then Resident Evil went multi-plat....

Then Silent Hill with multi-plat....

Then she got into RPGs, and that has pretty much prevented me from ever having to shell out $400 for a new playstation. She really likes Eternal Sonata (we played the entire game w/ her niece through on Co-Op, which eventually sold her niece on a X360 too), and is playing Lost Odyssey now. I went from having to buy her a PS3 to now planning on buying her her own X360 since she has borrowed mine for about a solid month now, trying to beat Lost Odyssey (she's got Kaim up to level 60 on Disc 4).

Ultimately, you go where the games are. She has no interest in any Sony exclusives, save maybe Kingdom Hearts if that stays on the Playstation..And it's far cheaper to buy her a soon-to-be Arcade at $199 than a $399 PS3. Microsoft has really got my money. I haven't spent so much cash on a system + games since my SNES.

When we get married, we plan on having 2 X360s routed with a LAN/Ethernet so we can play Resident Evil 5, and other games together.

Her game portfolio looks like this for the rest of the year:

Tales of Vesperia

Infinite Undiscovery

Silent Hill: Homecoming

Tomb Raider Legends

+ She's begging me to get more Rock Band stuff so her niece (who has a PS3, 360 and Wii) can play it more.

...And hey, who am I to complain about having a hot girlfriend that wants to play video games?

As for the "why would a X360 owner buy a PS3", it would be for whatever exclusives you feel are must have. In my case, there are 0 current, and 0 planned exclusives that I'd buy a PS3 over. But I am sure there are people out there that, outside of fanboy bias, would prefer what the PS3 has software wise, and be happy with it. Personally, the PS3 lineup (in terms of my gaming habits) is utter trash for the next 2 years, and has very few games I'd play even if the system were given to me....I can't say that about the X360. Most games I have bought aren't on the PS3, and have been fantastic.

Thats cute <3

Wow. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the fam. I am amazed at the amount of folks taking the plunge with MS lately. It really impresses me more folks are willing to push aside personal vendettas with MS and take a look at the 360.

better game deals, and so far, better games. The near future, from now to the end of '09, still makes the 360s upcoming library, exclusive and non, look fantastic. Not putting down the PS3 in any way.

If you decide to get XBL, post your gamertag :)

Another thing...you got over a prejudice against a company because you saw that while the company is less then perfect, they're products are great. I respect that very much.

I hate Microsoft because I use Windows (Vista and XP) constantly and I have so many problems with it. I think a lot of their softwares could have more work put to them before being released. They need more competition. If there was an OS competing with Windows, things would be so much better because they would need to use their profit to fund the development of their OS rather then making Bill Gates the richest man of earth.

However, in the console business, Microsoft are completely different.

Yeah, cause here they also manage to provide faulty hardware. ;)

wot wot wot.. no sorry continue on.

Anyways while i personally don't like the 360 much i failed to see this was in the microsoft discussion and that it was only targeting 360 owners. My bad.

Congrats on your new console tho :)

Check out my game about moles ^

Short Answer for me buying the xbox360 over ps3....Ace combat 6.

Long Answer for me getting xbox360 over ps3...I noticed early on that my favorite third party company namco decided to make exclusives on the 360, even if they were timed exclusives, I just knew that I had to get the 360.

BTW: I own all consoles now.
