Fair enough, didn't mean to have a dig at you personally. I thought the general concensus was that Sonic CD was a complete joke and almost couldn't be considered a "Sonic" game. Gameplay seemed extremely wacky and had no direction...go to the future...back to the past...I dunno just seemed like an empty adventure game with nothing in it.
I take your point about Knuckles Chaotix, that also isn't really a "Sonic" game, but back when I got the 32X (yes I know) it did look lovely and I really liked the art direction, the music also compared to the old megadrive stuff was fantastic. Metal sonic had real character I thought. But hey each to their own.

Knuckles chaotix would have been amazing had they allowed for 1 player play only. Instead they force you in to the 2 played play (even in single player) and that ruined it for me. Those string mechanics were quite wonky. Otherwise yeah, for the time it looked and sounded great.
I wasn't a big sonic cd fan until about 3 years ago...if you play it now you will be surprised howmuch substance there is to it. Level design had some really interesting ideas (even by todays standards...in 1993 they were just mindblowing) And future/past thing was cool cause it allowed you to get 1000's of rings per level as well as save the future by changing the past...as well as hear the kickass music which was different in all 3 time zones.
