Forums - Nintendo - Mark Wahlberg proves Wii isn't real gaming?

Well it's not like Max Payne is a recent release so it's not really that big a deal whether he's played the game or not... if he were to play the game he'd have to go and actually bother to dig up a copy somewhere, preferably the PC version, and I doubt he's into PC gaming, let alone most gaming in general save for Wii, so what's the point anyway?  All it proves (once again) is how much mass market appeal the Wii has, not that its strictly for non-gamers.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

That was supposed to be proof? Wow, it seems some people are trying really hard to prove the Wii isn't for "hardcores".

I know for a fact that Liar is no Mark Wahlberg!

Anyways, I love how this points some of the problems with "traditional" cinema era games.

-Can't play with his family/kids. (Which is how he injured his wrist; he was hit by his daughter's flailing Wiimote.)
-Can't play in short sessions.

It's not Wahlberg's problem, it's Max Payne's. (Except from the standpoint that he's an actor and should check out the source material.)

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

appolose,

Mark has not rapped in so long that a majority of the public does not see him as a rapper nor would they believe he was ever a rapper. They only know him as an actor and all actors have to research their parts. His lack of studying may be the reason that he was in the Happening.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

If your use of the word proof wasn't sarcasm then i think you need to look into what the word actually means.

Furthermore just because a system has casual games such as Wii Fit, it doesn't magically stop it having more traditional/'real' games. Like it or not, PS2 was the casual gaming system of choice last generation and look how that ended up.

I want the five minute it took me to read this idiocy back

I find it as proof that Mark Walberg just doesn't like games like Max Payne and doesn't want to offend people.

"I don't like that type of game" isn't going to help the fans of the series that are the target audience of the movie.

Wii games are too easy that is why all the casuals play them.

I'll give you a week to get 100% on Boom Blox.

You do it, your statement is true.

Do people really think that playing a video game is good research for a role in a movie? So that is why the Star Wars prequels didn't live up to the fanboys' hopes-- not enough video games on the set.
