My PS3 is completely region-free, my 360 is region-free for, oh, 50-70% of the games on the market, and both handhelds are 100% region-free. So being subjected to Nintendo's slow-ass international release schedule is maddening. Luckily, it looks like a mod chip-free workaround is imminent. In the wake of the Freeloader's demise, a member of the DCEmu community (Crediar) has posted a vid of a Wii system menu hack that'll allow for not only region-free gaming (for both Wii and GameCube games), but region-free channels, and will even skip out those annoying health warnings. I assume it means the warnings before a game (not the warning when you first turn on)

tbh I don't mind them in most games as they are skippable... but in Super Mario Galaxy you have to wait until it changes, which does piss me off because there is very little violent movement in Galaxy so it isn't really needed.

What are you talking about? I've been running homebrew for months now, and I've never been worried about my system being bricked. The Health and Safety warnings are minor but constant annoyances to those of us gamers that don't flail around like retarded idiots, so if there's a way to get rid of them, why not? the other issue is the region free gaming, specifically region free gaming including the channels, hence it will likely be possible to get VC games from outside your region.

Why exactly would any gamer be AGAINST making gaming on a console more accessable and less of a hassle?

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

Why exactly would anyone be AGAINST making gaming on a console more accessable and less of a hassle?

 

Because games that costs $10 in USA costs $60 in Europe. That's why Nintendo lock games to 1 region.
