I wonder sometimes why human civilization has such a morbid fascination with the idea of the entire world ending with them. Is it just fatalistic egotism, or something deeper than that? Anyway, the only thing the Large Hardon Collider has the potential of ending is good taste in science jokes. I mean come on, just look at that name. How can you not come up with a naughty image when you see "Large Hardon Collider"?

This is a bit like Y2K, so stupid.

A TON of people actually thought that the dating system of computers (99 for 1999, 00 for 1900) would actually cause a global crash? /facepalm.

The 2012 thing is even stupider...a calendar from a dead civilization, dictating nothing really, just the end of a calendar...and that'll be the end of the world? I predict it'll be stories of a few nutjobs either committing suicide or killing someone else because they go crazy, and the world will go on.

I want to visit CERN if I'm ever in Europe...I've been to Fermilab about 20 times on school programs and other opportunities...it's so cool to talk with the scientists about how the particle accelerator works...while hanging out inside their 4 mile-circumference Tevatron...it's hard to wrap your brain around quantum physics, but it's still really impressive to see such work.

I mean...look at it:

They keep herds of buffalo on their property too...it's a big place.

Actually, the Bible Code says that a comet will impact with the Earth in 2012.

But the bible code is stupid. Basically, you take the letters and put them in grid form. Then you choose a section of the grid. Next, you form a random pattern that predicts something. Literally. You start with a letter then do like 5 up, 4 down, 1 left or 7 up, 3 right, 3 down, 6 left and repeat it like that until it forms something that is barely a coherent thought. Anything like that. I could find a pattern that says "Hitler will be resurrected 3 weeks ago" or "Anyone with a shoe size over fifteen is a cannibalist".
