This is a bit like Y2K, so stupid.
A TON of people actually thought that the dating system of computers (99 for 1999, 00 for 1900) would actually cause a global crash? /facepalm.
The 2012 thing is even stupider...a calendar from a dead civilization, dictating nothing really, just the end of a calendar...and that'll be the end of the world? I predict it'll be stories of a few nutjobs either committing suicide or killing someone else because they go crazy, and the world will go on.
