The Wii Remote is one of the more comfortable controllers I've held, and I prefer its ergonomics to the Gamecube Controller, Xbox controller, and PS1 controller, so I think we're not calling it out because many of us don't agree :p

I liked the PS2 controller quite a bit, but since I'm a PC Gamer first and foremost, holding any pad with both hands feels unnatural at this point. It's a bit peculiar, but I immediately felt more comfortable with the Wii Mote/Nunchuck because it gave each hand a separate task, just as the Mouse and Keyboard do.

I can see how the Wiimote not be uncomfortable to everyone else like it is to me.

But I don't really see how anyone can defend the button layout. It's pretty weak by any standard.

Before I get flamed, I love my Wii but that doesn't mean I'm above criticizing its flaws.

I have never held a Wiimote tbh, but looking at pictures of it, I have *no idea* how you are supposed to press all the buttons without moving your hand :/

and to those you say no sharp edges, the think is a frickin cuboid! Even if the edges are rounded, after an hours gaming or so, they're still likely to dig into your hand, at least with some people.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible.

You don't have to press buttons anymore. You swing the remote or the nunchuck. Buttons are so last gen.

Yep, I can agree with that. Button-heavy games are definitely going to suffer, and I think Super Smash Brothers is an example of that (they seem to be leaning towards the classic controller as the base).

Nintendo needs to be careful with that, because casual players aren't going to want to be buying 6+ controllers (4 Wii Remotes, then others for titles that don't fit the control scheme).

Yeah they do. I refuse to buy a classic controller and if I didn't own a GC when I bought the Wii, I'd be pretty irritated at the cost of the Wiimote, nunchuck, and GC (or classic) controllers.

It's bad enough that they nail you for $60 on a Wiimote/nunchuck combo. It seems to me as if Nintendo should have spent more time making the Wiimote work better with more buttons so that you don't end up with 8 freakin' controllers for one system.

Where the hell did you manage to find this.... HAH, I forgot about the "powerglove"... I guess that in actuallity N has been looking for the Wii for awiile, and they finally got it right, all these others flopped.

I've also seen what you guys meant buy the controllers, my brother had to get 4 wiimotes, 4 nunchucks, 4 classics(he never had a GC) that's 12 controllers, shite. They need to invent "The Nintendo Controller Caddy" - patent pending

I think the smaller Xbox/360 controllers tie with the Wiimote for most comfortable and useful. I think it's the perfect design as far as traditional controllers go; the sticks are easy to handle, button size and placement are sensible, the triggers break cleanly, and it's ergonomically well-designed. (The original Xbox controller was, of course, an abomination.)

I'm ambivalent about the N64 controller. The stick and Z-trigger are cool, but the trident design is terribly foolish. And the GC controller was even worse, with its ridiculous XYZ placement and oversized/undersized A/B buttons. The sticks never seemed to work as well as those on PS2 or Xbox, either. I hated playing traditional FPSs with it, though Metroid worked beautifully.

The DualShock is just okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding - the sticks are a bit too far down, the triggers are too shallow to really break cleanly, and the handle design can get a bit uncomfortable after a long sessions. It's like the Xbox design team looked at every flaw and improved upon it. I haven't used a Sixaxis for a couple of weeks, but I remember it felt better than the DualShock.

And yeah, I don't get the Wiimote complaints. I'm holding one right now, and I honestly can't find any sharp surface to dig into my skin. It could do with another face button, but on the whole it's clean and comfortable.

You really dig the (small)xbox/360 controllers(the big ones were ridiculous) over the PS... I could never get the offset anolog sticks, they didn't feel right to me. That N64 controller was whack though, friggin heavy with a rumble pack and mem card stuck in it. Don't really have a lasting impression of the GC controller, I only bought one to play MGS: Twin Snakes, then took it back after a month(gotta love Walmart) I still got the game, it'll play on the Wii, right?
