They can ship as many as they want... but apparently the game is already in bargain bins cause its been overshipped

Could be an isolated incident, but it would support VGC's numbers that the game is not undertracked.

OK, I hadn't read that post when I replied. But what's the point of speculating? It could go one way or the other.

Very good for MGS4. Hopefully it hits 4 mill by the end of the year, then at least it will have been worth it for Konami

What the hell is wrong with N4G? Konami says it shipped 'more than 3m worldwide'. Pretending to know that number is 3.94 is nonsense. See for yourself - its on page 4:

And the numbers are shipped to retailers, not sold to consumers.

The only one that is likely substantial for this quarter is the essential collection (which launched in the previous quarter).  There was about a week left in June after they announced 3 million shipped.  I can see MGS4 being around 3.3 or 4 of that 3.94, but it is just speculation.

I doubt it. When they say over 3 million they usually mean between 3.0 and 3.05 million. They have every reason to make their sales sound as good as they legally can.

The 3.94 million number is in page 5, and represents the Metal Gear franchise, not just MGS4.

Fair enough, I still think it's insane they shipped that many old copies of Metal Gear.
