Forums - Microsoft - August - December: Too Many Games?

mrstickball said:
It was this way last year: Two Worlds, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Mass Effect...Bought all of them Day-1.

This year, I have Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, and Silent Hill: Homecoming JUST in late Aug. to September. I want to also buy Rock Band 2, Fable 2 (eventually), and Fallout 3....Oh, Tomb Raider UW and TLR will be bought too.

Add Too Human, Viva Pinata 2, Brothers in Arms, World in Conflict, Rise of the Argonauts, Dead Space, Endwar, Red Alert 3, Gears 2 and Banjo Kazooie for other games I want.

...It's amazing to think that, last year, every analyst said that the 360 wouldn't have a great holiday 08 in light of the spectacular 07 season.

Well, when you take out the multiplats they dont have as big a year as last year.

This year, I have Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, JUST in late Aug. to September. I want to also buy Fable 2 (eventually)

Add Too Human, Viva Pinata 2, Gears 2 and Banjo Kazooie for other games I want.

Just saying, your statement was totally uneeded in this thread, so I decided I would respond to it.

To the topic, I dont see much of a difference between this years numbers and last years. Especially if you take out the games that will only be marginal. I do know I will be pretty much buying at least 3 games a month till the end of the year starting next month. :)

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Lemme narrow that list for ya

Good holiday.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Didn't Ghostbusters get pushed back to '09?

Thus far I have three groups in regards to priority.

Group 1. Purchase for myself.

Too Human
Infinite Undiscovery
Fable II
Left 4 Dead

Group 2. Christmas list

Last Remnant
Fallout 3
Dead Space
Naruto The broken bond

Group 3. Will have to get them next year.

The force unleashed
Huxley
Banjo Kazooie

I have to make sure I get the online titles when they come out so I can enjoy them with my friends, but I admit to being a little torn about Fallout 3. I am playing Oblivion right now so I may still be a tad toasted when it comes out. Further more I will have probably have already played Too Human for a few weeks. I may be twitched out by that point.

Too Human, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Fallout 3, Gears 2, Viva Pinata 2, Tomb Raider:Underworld, Last Remnant, Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Mirror's Edge and Left 4 Dead are all going to somehow make their way into my 360...

Tomb Raider Underworld Vs Prince of Persia same day release should be interesting...
Mass Effect:GOTY edition should give it a very nice bump over the holidays...
Lego Batman should be the big kiddies' game...

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

I'm getting the bolded games for myself and the italicized ones are for the family so those can wait. As for time to play them all.....fuck me! I still have games from last year that I haven't touched yet.

I will also be renting a few of those games like Silent Hill, Lego Batman, Samckdown vs Raw, etc... I may have to say goodbye to my personal life for a while or use a whole lot of vacation time.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

-TheRealMafoo

man....wayyyyyyy too many games I want.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

*sigh*

Once again, it seems that there is a total lack of understanding here of the way the gaming business works. (Yes, gaming is a business, and it's a GIGANTIC business at that.)

This happens every year, and it will always happen every year. In every business, not just gaming. September through December is holiday shopping season. Unless you cancel the holidays, you're never going to be able to change the fact that an obscene amount of new games come out at that time of year. That's the time of year that the stores are packed and people are shopping for the gamers in their lives. And that's the bread and butter time of year for the console companies because they're expecting to sell hardware at a more accelerated rate.

All that adds up to more games in the holiday shopping season. I actually look forward to it to be honest. It's my favorite time of year because it seems like there's always something brand new to play. Yeah, I get a little backlogged, but it's a happy dilemma to have. And this year is going to be especially bad because the console war is absolutely insane right now.

Don't complain. Just be happy the summer drought is over and that it wasn't much of a drought this year anyway.
