Only 2 games absolutely require the hard drive: -

Final Fantasy XI

Football Manager 2006

Burnout Paradise requires a hard drive for online play and I think there might be one or two more that do.

Xbox live need somewhere to be put so you need hard drive for those and Xbox 1 games need emulation which is on hard drive.

I thought Xbox Live could work off the memory card?

XBOX Live can work with just the Memory Card.

But certain games need the HDD to work, PSU and Halo 3 Co-op do, for what reason I don't know.

does this HDD have to be the one from Microsoft? or any other external harddrive I attach through USB?

$199 is an tempting price for what I have in mind. ;)

Game saves shouldn't be a problem and you can always delete old saves for old games you don't even have anymore (if you buy/sell/trade games a lot).

I *believe* *(could be wrong) you can only use the special 360 hard drives unless you do some fancy finagling but you can get them cheap on eBay and places like NewEgg.

yeah, if VGC's exclusive new is indeed true, I will become a Xbox owner in Sept... Shocking is it?

What was more shocking was the fact I almost bought a wii the other day. My store had one as "open box" and I was going to get it at 20% off.... but then, I looked up games I am actually interested in getting and it's less than 5. So I say.. "screw it"
