"Miyamoto needs to think up more ideas for the Wii"

Nintendo Co., President Satoru Iwata has said that Wii Music completes what Miyamoto wrote in his proposal when he came up with the idea for the Wii. According to Iwata, Miyamoto has said he now needs to think up more original ideas. Iwata has also said that Nintendo don't really have any more accessories in the pipeline for Wii. "Most of the ideas for accessories that we had initially come up with are out now. We might think up some more, and we might make them if we do,>>>>>>>> but we don't have any plans to release a whole lot more."<<<<<<<< he said.

"Nintendo: of course we're working on our next-generation console"

Nintendo Co., President Satoru Iwata was recently asked to comment on speculation about Nintendo's plans after the Wii. "The hardware team started work on the next thing as soon as they were done with their previous project, but what they think up doesn't necessarily become a product. We only turn something into a product after it's been thoroughly vetted inside the company. We're not at a point where we can give specifics, but of course we're working on it." Iwata replied.

The article describing the information contained in the source was done by Maxconsole , I've been arguing that Nintendo will have no choice but to loose momentum , in the first 2 years of the Wii's existance many of it's biggest IP's have been thrown at us I was shocked to find Super Mario Kart and Smash Bros Brawl come out in the same year , I heard some where on these forums that Nintendo were going for a 10 year stratergy with the Wii but  I seriously dought the Wii could last another 3 years without serious 3rd party support , what's your take on this ?

Oh and for alll those of you who will probably bring some sales statistics in an atempt to disprove me, re-read the post because this has little to do with the Wii's current sales performance but everything to do with Nintendo supporting the platform and keeping it strong.

Didn't they say they're making a new Mario and a Wii Zelda?

Other than that, there are still many unused IPs.

I agree.

Also the PS3 is gonna lose steam because they're releasing a MGS and a Resistance game in the same year! OMG! Plus a Killzone so soon!

Plus MS has wasted all their good IPs and released their halo and GoW already. For shame.

It's such a terrible thing that federal law requires only one game release per franchise per console generation, right?

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Ermm no ? just that Brawl and Mario kart are probably amongst the biggest titles for Nintendo this whole generation ?

Just because its biggest IPs were released, doesn't mean that many smaller IPs won't have the same effects. Also Nintendo already has another Zelda, and Mario game in development and we could see these probably next year, along with Pikmin 3, and most likely another Metroid game. Also while those a games that target the core, Nintendo also targets the casual market, and Wii Sports is probably still the biggest system seller. Nintendo doesn't really need to many new games, because most of the games they have for the Wii already have effects that last much longer than that of PS3 or 360 games. I really don't see how they will be losing steam. Also the 3rd party support is increasing monthly, I am going to assume it will stay that way. Especially in terms of Japanese third parties.

I think this is just a typical case of one person allowing their desires to colour their perceptions.

Is it really a sign of weakness that Nintendo doesn't have an endless barrage of Wii peripherals or that they're already working on their next console? I guarantee that Sony is also working on their next console, even with their "10 year plan."

Wii Motion Plus could also start whole new previously unseen types of games on the Wii. The current Wii controller already makes certain genres look like jokes on the other consoles, this will be even more true if WM+ takes off (which I think it will).

We can hardly say the Wii is running out of steam.

I don't understand. Satoru Iwata says that once Shigeru Miyamoto has delivered Wii Music, they don't have any other Wii-series games currently planned (besides Wii Sports Resort, obviously). Why does that mean the Wii is running out of steam? While Wii-series games sell well, I would hardly say they're the only reason Wii is miles ahead.

I'm guessing what he means by that is "casual" titles anyway, namely the Wii Series.  What they have out right now, along with Wii Music, should be enough to satisfy the expanded audience, much more so than the HD consoles at least.  Maybe this means they'll go back to making more old-school games?  The ones complaining about Nintendo's current direction should be pleased, no new ideas means no new Wii [insert casual] to show at next year's e3!

As for third party support, I highly doubt third parties will continue to ignore the console with the largest userbase.  If they're too stupid to capitalize on this opportunity, the small companies will take over (See: The Conduit).  Oh, and forget anyone talking about "10 year plans," they're nonsense.

The interview was a nice read, btw.

I have a felling that all we have seen so far are demos. The real stuff has yet to come.

Wii Sports = demo
Sports Resort = demo
Wii Fit Ski = demo

All this demos HAVE TO become full projects otherwise this new and cool accessories are in vain and people will not forgive Nintendo for providing only demos in a consoles entire life cycle.

Oh and yes, no more Wii accesories please, my desk is full of them already.

-1 for the OP for trolling btw.
