I wouldn't mind if ONE Mac owner would admit they bought because it made them feel special or they liked the way it looked, but they never say that they say it was such a good deal... it included all this software.

Well... I can't say it... I'm a graphic Designer so I have to use a mac because Windows does a bad job in off-set printing.. but one thing that I like about the mac is installing software.. where Windows trows thousands of files everywhere.. most mac applications are using just one file.. (which contains al the files for the program) it leaves you with a much cleaner computer.. and that it doesn't constantly asks if you are sure that you want to do something...

You are not the average Mac consumer.  I am not talking about their Pro Computers, I am talking about their Personal Computing Bread and Butter Home Crap.

@Rocketpig: You are right, linux users are worse.

In all fairness, you'll have a damned hard time finding software that compares to iLife when it comes to home multimedia creation geared for the average intrawebtard... In fact, I'd say it's nigh impossible. The suite is bloody excellent in every regard.

Shit, I even use it for professional work occasionally. It's really a brilliant bit of software from Apple that comes free with every new Mac (though you obviously pay the Apple premium when you buy the computer... Cupertino is mighty proud of that logo). I haven't found anying in the PC world that comes close to competing with it.

Let's be fair here, you are not a Webtard.  Webtards are not doing much VideoEditing...

You are right though, the video is great.  But go to you tube, watch some webtards' videos and you will see they are all using Windows Movie Maker (if anything) with all the settings to default.

(I do love my ipod though I wouldn't buy another.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Which is an absolutely atrocious piece of software. That was my point. You may not see many people using iMovie/iWeb/iDVD, but they're all vastly superior to their bundled Windows counterparts (and most other casual software on the market). The first time I used iMovie, I was editing clips together within a few minutes... I needed to switch over to Movie Maker once and was incredibly irritated within minutes. Of course, iMovie is rather limited compared to Premiere and whatnot but it fills the needs of the average user very well.

This wasn't meant to bash Apple. Apple is awesome.

They aren't doing bad revenue/net income.

24Billion revenue and 3.5B net income is pretty awesome. That's their 2007 status.

Still, what bothers me, is that people pretend Apple is such a small company, while MS is so big. Sure, MS is a lot bigger, but still.

MS has ~ 4 times as many employees (Apple has 20K ish, MS has 80K ish)

MS has twice the revenue (MS has 51B, Apple has 24B)

Apple has 1/5 of the net income. (Apple = 3.5B, MS = 18B)

Just for reference, I believe Nintendo had 2.4B net income, and 17B revenue

hum, I have to agree but at the same time I know hundreds of photo engravers and other printing companies working on PC off-set printing included.....

about movie maker.... utter crap... about iMovie way better but please still utter crap anyway...but true for a basic software it's great, even though you find some bad ass free stuff online now... I'd still go for a final cut pro or adobe premier though...

apple computers choice especially for companies is not justified in most cases, not even grphic and video application... if you really need power you have dedicated workstations anyway....

now i'm surprised apple attract so much hatred... I didn't expect that lol

I disagree on the bolded part... The high-end Apples are quite competitively priced, all considering... And in a workflow environment like a press shop or video rendering, the ability to dual-boot Windows/OS X is invaluable at times. It also comes in very handy for web design work where multiple browsers and operating systems have to be checked for compatibility.

Plus, many people in those industries are just more comfortable in an OS X environment... I know I am. I prefer the non-dedicated app screen in OS X when working as opposed to Microsoft's "cover the whole screen with an app background approach". It lets me flip through multiple documents and programs very quickly. There are many reasons why I prefer OS X for working. That's just one of them.

And it's not as if I'm not familiar with a Windows environment... I've spent about half my professional life working under it. I also ran IT for a 25-computer network for several years. I know Windows very well, I just don't like it very much (but I do appreciate its hardware flexibility and gaming ability). Funnily enough, despite people bitching and moaning about it, I think Vista is a huge step in the right direction (though they seriously underdelivered what they were promising). Sure, the drivers and whatnot were shit for quite some time but XP was the same way, as was 2K when it released. It will be sorted out (and IMO, anyone who decides to beta test an OS for MS before SP1 is released deserves all they get).

Apple. I forgot they existed. lol. If Apple had the majority of the OS market over Windows, then all the viruses would be written for macs. After all why write a virus that will only affect 3% of the internet users out there? Apple take over the living room. LOL

I acutally preffer XMB over Mac OS many because of how easy XMB is to access, and I'm a windows guy, when home comes out that will be the ultimate virtual OS with XMB it's a win win formula.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

They have as good a chance as any to impact the living room area. They already have the largest infrastructure set up to deliver content.

As for viruses... LOL. There's more to it than 3% of the market. Being Unix-based has a HUGE impact on how virus-prone an operating system is. Combine that with the giant holes in XP, the registry, admin authentication, etc. and you have your reason why XP was so consistently attacked by viruses. MS originally put in no safeguards against them (a simple authentication screen, native to all *nix systems already, would have done wonders) to ease use of the system. Terrible idea.

Simply put, MS really screwed up. That's why there are so many viruses, adware, spyware, etc. out in the wild. Good programmers can always find exploits in a system but with XP, they didn't even have to try. Microsoft left the door wide open for them.

Eh, what? How can you possibly compare OS X to XMB? One is a basic interface while the other is a massive operating system.

XMB to Front Row, maybe, but XMB to OS X? No comparison. It's like comparing a scooter to a delivery truck.
