 There is no good spot on Mercury. There is no atmosphere so you are exposed only to the extremes of temperature. It is either the second hottest planet in the solar system, or the coldest. There isn't really a middle ground to live in.

 

Agreed. It's just a more extreme version of the moon. A rock in space with no atmosphere and crazy temperature extremes.

I'm saying we -could- land there if we wanted (though it would be difficult). There's no good reason to do so, but we could.
